Incidentally, on the subject of understanding Latin - I have never studied Latin (though I would love to!) and have only been going to the EF for a couple of months, but I can already understand some of the prayers without having to look at the English missal. The prayers get repeated over and over and you just pick them up and become familiar with them in Latin.
Some of them I knew already from attending OF Masses that used part Latin. For instance, do you know what “Agnus Dei, qui tolis peccata mundi, miserere nobis” means?
Or do you know what Kyrie Eleison means? (Not Latin, but Greek.) If so, is it because you studied Greek?
It’s not as intimidating as people think it is! The first time may be confusing, but I was surprised how quickly I became familiar with it.
