Questions about suicide

As far as I have read on this forum, people who commit suicide are usually not morally culpable of their action, because their motivations are not entirely rational and this capacity for rational thought. Because of this reduced culpability, it is not a necessary conclusion to say that they are in hell.
  1. Do kamikaze pilots go to hell? Kamikaze pilots are not crazy, but their actions are influenced by the duress of the war.
  2. What about a stalker (who obviously is crazy) who constructs a mail bomb to kill someone, and after that, that person commited suicide? He has malicious intentions, although he isn’t sane. (this example is actually based on a real person; if you know who tell us.)
 
Ok, I tried to post, and I think I screwed up. I mean, I was writing a response and managed to lose it. In that case, let me try again.

Suicide due to mental illness isn’t necessarily about death. I’m mentally ill and have tried suicide three different times. The last time was about 18 years ago. Each time, it wasn’t about dying. It was about stopping the pain of living. Kind of hard to explain.

To my understanding, a Kamikazi pilot did what he did with well thought out intent. He meant to do that. That was his plan.

Now for a suicide bomber. That is usually a well laid plan as well. As least, considered with the result in mind. Knowing they were killing themselves for their political/religious agenda in mind.

I’m not sure I understand your second scenario, but to the first I think the pilot would not be entirely culpable because he was doing what he thought was right (following a faulty conscience). He would, however, be guilty of not properly forming his conscience.

My understanding of the kamikaze mentality may not be correct. I’m assuming they do it because they believe it is right.

No one can say whether or not a person is fully culpable for their suicide (or other grave sin). That judgment is for God to make.
