I happen to believe the Shroud of Turin is authenic. I did not think so at first, but after reading and praying, I changed my mind.

Our Blessed Mother is the Immaculate Conception. Some theologists believe that Mary’s conception was the result of an embrace between St. Ann and Joachim. This to me separates Mary from any scientific norm. Anything is possible with God.

According to the Shroud of Turin (Link 1, Link 2) and Miracle of Lanciano (Link 1, Link 2)…
Jesus’ blood type was AB Negative. Pretty cool, huh? 🙂

I happen to believe so also.

However, the comment has been raised that it is impossible for it to Jesus because AB blood type is a new blood type that has only been around since 500AD.

Daniel and I both wonder what there is to refute/support this claim.

God Bless,
Maria

If you’ve done enough research, the Shroud itself should be enough to contradict that claim.

Other than that, here’s a few other links that you might look at. While it certainly seems to be true that AB is the newest blood type, it’s not that new, and therefore it doesn’t follow that Christ couldn’t have had it. And I would be very much of the opinion that he in fact did have it.

“Type AB first appeared around 2,500 years ago.” Link 1

“The rarest and newest blood type to evolve is blood type AB.” Link 2

“Through a misinformation campaign the “official” history is that blood type AB is the newest and rarest, emerging 500-1000 years ago, while blood type O is the oldest.” Link 3

“The blood type diet hypothesis…states that ABO type A appeared between 15,000-25,000 years ago, type B appeared 10,000-15,000 years ago, and type AB appeared only 1000-1200 years ago. All human ABO blood types existed as of several million years ago.” Link 4

Link one is written by someone from a state community college and has no footnotes of where they get their numbers of 2500 years ago.

Link 2 is basically the information that people who claim that the shroud of Turin is NOT Christ get there information from. It is from Dr. Peter J. D’Adamo who wrote the eat right for your blood type books.

Respectfully, link 3 is not a source that would stand up to the scientific community. Link three claims something that I do not believe any respected doctor would support, that blood types are mutated due to copper deficiencies and everyone is AB. It spouts a paranoid, central authority that has fooled everyone as to blood types.

Link 4 seems slightly more reputable but the link or footnote it posts is just another paper written by another that is labeled only as an hypothesis, as to why ABO would/could have been around for millions of years.

It also tries to refute link 2, and posts several dialogues Dr. D’Adamo and rebuttal to him. Basically it is a chose who you believe Eat right for your blood type or the person refuting him.

Respectfully,
Maria

I recently read, in “evolution of blood types” that blood type AB did not come into existence until the 1500’s. If this is true then any miracles, or the shourd can not be true because this blood type did not exist in Jesus’ day.

The claim is that the blood type AB did NOT exist before 500AD.

They test the bones of people and no one with that blood type has been found before 500 AD.
Maybe I am looking at things to simple here. But if type A is from one part of the world and type B is from another part then the reason we don’t see many cases of AB before 500 AD should be simple.

Location! Few people traveled these distances in that day and time and there would have been very, very little interbreeding going on. Later as transportation systems and trade and other things developed then we started to see an increase in interbreeding.
