Former atheist here. The turning point was encountering Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. So really it was Catholic theology that followed for me.
I’m still in the process of converting, there’s lots of road bumps but I’m pretty convinced I’m on the right path.

I’m still in the process of converting,
I like your phrasing here because so often we think of converting as a one-off; were one day you’re and atheist and the next you’re a Catholic. It’s a continual journey for everyone.

What I would say? The “proofs” that GOD exists have been out there for quite a long time. To some they are not proofs. They want GOD to manifest Himself to them directly, but when this actually happens then someone will claim that nope not true they hallucinated.
There are people who are contrarian and will not accept an idea no matter how logical and sound it seems from the purely reason perspective.
Notice I am not even mentioning “faith” which adds another dimension to the issue.
As for these “proofs” they are out there. One only needs to seek them out.
This forum has many threads where they are discussed.

Peace!

I still don’t know what turned me into an atheist but much later after many a suffering (health mainly), and after medical science only cost my parents a huge spending of money, I turned to Christ.
This reminds me of that saying ‘there are no atheists in foxholes.’ And that God works in mysterious ways.

I was brought up in a kind of Anglicanism-lite, but in high school I rejected religion altogether, like many of my contemporaries at that time.
Interesting. So at that time, did you feel there was no evidence for the existence of God? how about ‘The absence of evidence is not evidence of absence’?

And you know for 100% certainly that he exists?? I mean, you didn’t just convert just because you needed to feel connected to something? I know people do that because they want to be a part of something, not because of logic.

Do you believe dreams tell the truth to reality?

I heard that the Catholic church holds the fullness of Christianity and its history so this doesn’t surprise me.

They are the OG Christians. Seemed to me if one wants to be a Christian and you’re not the only logical choice is the Catholic Church.

He DOES.

I don’t think it’d be useful to go on yapping and yapping here. Unless, you experience it yourself, no amount of argument is going to convince one who’s skeptical (as I was in the past).

And no, I didn’t convert out of mere necessity to be connected or associated with something. While I did seek for God, I didn’t do it the way some religious fanatics do. I didn’t act like saints either. I simply wanted Him in my life from the bottom of my heart. I think once you have this pure intention, everything happens swiftly (at least that was how it was for me). The spiritual connections are things beyond science. And that comes from a person who used to be a student of medical science.

I’m still a big advocate of science. But as much as I believe in science, I believe in God as well, and He exists. I balance my life with these two side by side.

On dreams, I can’t say anything. What happens to one may not apply for another.

This is very true. And this is why faith is a gift.

“I don’t think it’d be useful to go on yapping and yapping here.”

I’m sorry, are you referring to me “yapping” or yourself yapping??

I’m just asking questions, trying to get answers here. I guess I won’t ask anymore. Thanks.

Yes of course. Atheism is inconsistent with the scientific method, it is a declaration not proof of a hypothesis.

Me yapping of course. I do also ask a lot of questions here (some may have been plain stupid but I just wanted to “know” ).

I think the proof that God exists cannot be answered just in an argumentative postings here. Perhaps, you’d have to consult a person with higher office and learning/knowledge, working in the church.

I used to like, forever keep asking people (theists) “Where is God? Show me”. No answers satisfied me or let’s say nobody was able to " prove" it. Not even the most devout ones. In the end after a long spiritual journey, I “found” Him but let’s not go over the details.

In short, you yourself will find an answer within yourself, one day, if you seek for Him relentlessly. In that moment you will know how He is like, who He is and why you didn’t “find” Him right when you wanted to.

🙂
