And that is wise. Instead of bashing posters or a specific religion, we can pray for them. I like that too.We can pray for him.![]()

Ever since I declared myself lds and catholic I have experienced nothing but attacks. But I certainly did not experience love and mercy. Now what a message that would have sent: to post with love and mercy, attempting to understand my circumstances and why I declare myself to be both. ButâŚthe mocking, hate and mocking went on and on. And that my friend is not catholic. As the link stated: love and mercy is the key for dialogue. After his attack on me/us, I have nothing further to say to him either.
No problem, at least you made a response!lmboâŚim so sorry i couldnt help myselfâŚ
lol⌠i luv yewwwwwwâŚlolâŚ
I never said that it was justified. But the link that I posted did make other claims. And context is a good understanding of what BY said and with other subjects as MMM.I didnât read his response. Since his few days of personal tirades against me, he is the second person I have ever put on ignore.
At any rate. These sort of âdefensesâ say to me that the BY doctrine of blood atonement was justified because of a, b and c.
I hope that you will read point 3 and understand why love and mercy are important for catholic dialogue.Thank you for that!!!![]()
meâŚAnd when truth is used to mock, bash, blame, harm and hurt, it is not really love either. Bu to give truth with love shows respect and dignity to those who we are in dialogue with. I have never heard any pope say that we need to hurt others with truth.
Here is a case in point from your link:
How often have I said that we need to post with love and mercy? Quite often. And how often have I spoken about humanity on this forum? Quite often when I address the catholic posters about their bashing.
- The Churchâs Pastors, in communion with the Successor of Peter, are close to the faithful in this effort; they guide and accompany them by their authoritative teaching, finding ever new ways of speaking with love and mercy not only to believers but to all people of good will. The Second Vatican Council remains an extraordinary witness of this attitude on the part of the Church which, as an âexpert in humanityâ,5 places herself at the service of every individual and of the whole world.
And who is following the understanding of what is in blue? And show where catholics have responded with love and mercy on the mormon threads? Very few and inbetween.
If a person says to someone that they find what they are doing abusive and harassing I would always recommend that that person should stop that behavior. Whether or not the poster who is doing the âabusingâ thinks it is abusive is not important. I have told him to stop and he refused to listen and he even underlined it and reposted it. That is abusive.Oh, I donât think that doing the cut and paste thing without comment is abusive. It is, however, confusing. Not so much when you do it (Ok, Iâm being nice, itâs confusing when you do it tooâŚ) but when it is done by others, I am left wondering what the )(*(& POINT is.
But that could just be me. After all, I figure that if I wrote the thing in the first place, the meaning of it isnât going to change for me just because someone else reposts it and underlines a sentence or two.
(shrug)
Never mind. If you think itâs fun, have fun. What PâO"S ME is when this is doneâŚand the quotes used are taken entirely out of context. THAT really frosts me, and as far as I am aware, you havenât done that, at least.
Diana
You see charlotte now you are doing the correct thing. I see a response and that is wonderful. And I am glad that you are seeing what is in blue. As you are becoming a catholic again, it becomes sooooooo important to show love and mercy. I have said my favorite saints that have shown such love and mercy: saint faustina, mother cabrini, katherine drexel, mother teresa and the little flower, saint therese. Good examples to follow and one can not lose by following their examples.meâŚ![]()
No?Got it, Thanks,
Although, to me, it doesnât seem like a fitting punishment for someone like that.(assuming they havenât repented) Doesnât seem painful enough.
and neither do weâŚthough in both cases (Catholic folks and Mormon folks) that is more in the script than in the action. After all, you are assuming that Gacy is in hell, and there is no more popular an assumption in the world than that Hitler is (and hey, weâre probably right about that last.)Of course, from the Catholic point of view, we believe salvation through Christ is available to anyone and everyone. Because we canât judge what is in their hearts, and we donât know if they have truly repented, prior to dying.
Possibly. All we understand of it is that itâs better than here, but by no means exaltation. As well, we believe in a pre-existence as spirits before our births, these folks arenât going to be 'sitting around talking about their exploits, and âconquests.â" They will be achingly aware of just how badly they screwed up, and just what they could have done, instead. As far as the lowest level of heaven as you describe it, it just kind of seems like a prison hear on Earth to me. Many of them sit around and talk about their exploits, and âconquestsâ. (first hand knowledge, as I volunteer at both a State prison, and a Federal prison in our area)
Of course you donât agree with it. If you did, youâd be Mormon. One thing I like about the Catholic Church. The Church doesnât teach that any specific person is in Hell. We do teach that specific people are in Heaven i.e. Saints.
Thanks for the answers. I think I understand it a little better. Donât agree with it, but Hey, I learned something. And that ainât all bad.
Tell meâŚand I have never been to confession so this is an honest questionâŚWhy not through prayer?
Good morning, Charlotte,ok so, my fellow catholicsâŚplease dont put me on ignore or shun me from societyâŚlolâŚ

Hereâs my canned answer: I am here because this is non-Catholic religions. It is specifically for the discussion of non-Catholic religions. You didnât answer her Question. But thats nothing new for you D, you slick change the subject & weasel word your way around a Point that you refuse to acknowledge
simply because Mormonism lets you arbatrarily discount, deny, or dismiss any Fact or criticism that doesnât vibe with Mormon Orthodoxy as being from Satan & unworthy of an honest response, Heck any type of response.
So why are you still here? It is clear from Mormon Teachings today that you are under no compunction to acknowledge anything that isnât Mormon. An Honest comparative discussion including Facts, documents, Testimony, history etc. can not be had with you or others of your ilk.
All you are doing is Pontificating your Beliefs which by the admission of Mormons current & separated allow you to lie, misrepresent or ignore anything that hasnât previously been accepted & approved by the Mormon Prophets & church Officers.
You have some Carl Sagan going in in thereâŚâWeâre made of star stuff. We are a way for the cosmos to know itself.â Iâve always thought that this was an incredibly insightfulâand ironicâcomment for a fanatic atheist to make.ok so, my fellow catholicsâŚplease dont put me on ignore or shun me from societyâŚlolâŚ

What does 'from all eternity to all eternity" mean? I donât understand this any more than the bunch of eternities thing.Hi, âGethsemaneâ,
I had missed your question until now. Itâs a very good one, and your chosen moniker shows that you are probably more than a casual student of the Bible.
The LDS belief that Heavenly Father is a resurrected Being who, like Christ, was always perfect from all eternity to all eternity, comes from a direct and literal understanding of John 5:19 which says,
âThen answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.â
A literal understanding of this verse indicates that Jesusâ resurrection was something that He learned from the Father, which He was able to do since He had a perfect knowledge of the pre-mortal past and could âseeâ both into the past and into the future.
Since Christ was perfect on earth and in His pre-mortal life, that verse shows that the Father was also perfect when He lived on an earth and before His own mortal life eons of time in the eternal past, and that He knew how to resurrect Himself just as the Savior knew the principles and had the power to resurrect Himself. He had the power to lay down His life, and take it up again, and the Father had that same power.
Our power to be resurrected will come only by virtue of the Savior, which is why His suffering in Gethsemane and on the cross of Calvary are the pivotal events in time and eternity.
Andrea Yates is a bad example for me, that case brings up so many things I see wrong with the Judicial system, that I would end up getting banned. But I understand where you were going with it. That is a whole new forum (not just thread) in itself. No?
Well, imagine this: you are Andrea Yeats. (Sheâs the Texas woman who drowned her five children in a bathtub.) You committed this act when you were insane, and not really responsible for your actions. One day, however, you wake up, and you are saneâand your children are still dead. At your hand.
Can you imagine a hell, or a punishment, worse than that?
I canât. Physical pain would be a relief. It would distract my mind from the eternal remorse, guilt and knowledge of what I had done.
The difference, of course, is that Andrea (since she was indeed insane) only has to suffer this here; she has the hope of Christâs atonement and the forgiveness of Him and her children, eventually. People like GacyâŚprobably donât.
and neither do weâŚthough in both cases (Catholic folks and Mormon folks) that is more in the script than in the action. After all, you are assuming that Gacy is in hell, and there is no more popular an assumption in the world than that Hitler is (and hey, weâre probably right about that last.)
