C2M2C, my lightbulb, after I converted from Southern Baptist to Catholic, was at Eucharisitc Adoration. If you and your wife have not made Eucharistic Adoration a part of your daily or weekly prayer life, let me recommend it to you. Eucharistic Adoration allows me to slow down and let jesus “breathe” on me.
In His service,
Stan
I’ve heard of this. What are the prayers? or are you just talking to the Lord?

Hi Jean!

It sounds like you know very little about Purgatory. It’s probably best to say nothing until you have at least educated yourself just a little bit - doncha think? Read this from the Library section at the top of the page:

catholic.com/library/Purgatory.asp

Sudden and unexpected death might not allow for repenting of all sins in this life. Just as a thought experiment, what do you think happens to the sins of those who die suddenly and unexpectedly - before they have an opportunity to repent?
Here are your choices:

A) They are not forgiven because they were not repented of.

B) They are forgiven even if they arent repented of - we dont really need to repent to be forgiven!

C) There is a form of repentence which can occur after death and that is how they are forgiven.

Please be sure to include some irrefutable bible verses to support whatever your position happens to be…
phil,
Yes, I know about purgatory.
“The purification is necessary because, as Scripture teaches, nothing unclean will enter the presence of God in heaven (Rev. 21:27) and, while we may die with our mortal sins forgiven, there can still be many impurities in us, specifically venial sins and the temporal punishment due to sins already forgiven.”
1Cor.3:10-15 takes care of this. Our foundation in faith.

This passage (Rev,21:27) mentions the 'Book of Life." the names of the faithful are written there.
Our names are written there because of what Jesus Christ has done for us. As believers and our daily walk with the Lord keeps our name in it. We are saved by grace through faith. It’s a gift!

Basically we believe the same about salvation. Mine is entirely based on the sacrifice that took place on the cross. I can’t earn salvation, Jesus has given me the gift of salvation. I have accepted . 🙂 Yes, I do repent daily, sometimes more than 2-5 times
How about you? 🙂
I like Rev.3:5 “Stand firm in your faith and your name will remain in the Book of Life.” Rev.3:20-22 is nice also. 🙂

God bless,
jean

It’s a combination of both. One term for it is “a holy hour” and there are devotional prayers that can be used. But most importantly, even not talking with the Lord or using prayers is just “being in His presence”. It’s a rare gift we have. He is there and He shines his radiance and blessing on us. Someone described it like having the warmth of the sun penetrate into you. It takes some silence in the presence of the Eucharist (especially when exposed in the Monstrance) but the results can be remarkable.
