Welcome Manphibian!
Can’t add to what others have said. As a former Southern Baptist, I’d recommend Rod Bennet’s “The Four Witnesses” to see the early Church (and Jurgen’s Faith of the Early Fathers). And Steve Ray’s book “Crossing the Tiber”. I know that Bennet and Ray are former Baptists, so maybe that might help. (It sure helped me in deciding to Come Home to the Catholic Church.) Also, Born Fundamentalist ?Born Again Catholic is great.
Also, you might want to check out an RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) program at the local Catholic Church. They start in Aug/Sept and the first few months are an inquiry section. There is NO pressure to convert in RCIA, but if at Easter you feel you want to take the step, you can.
Good luck and God Bless you on your journey.
