Questions on Fatima

I’m a believer in Fatima and I try to practice what Our Lady told us to do: Daily Rosary and reparations for sins. Since the fall of Communism, I’m wondering if we still need to pray for the conversion of Russia. And the Three Secrets have been revealed.

However: Something I’m confused on. At my favorite Catholic bookstore; there’s big books on Fatima and I’ve heard on Catholic radio that there was more to Fatima than the above.

Like say: Were there things mentioned about pro life stuff and other things?

Ahead of time, I’d to say: Appreciate all your help.
 
Mary’s actual words at Fatima were extremely brief. Since Fatima happened, there have been dozens of people trying to read stuff into what Mary said. There are also people who approach Fatima like it’s some sort of huge conspiracy theory, and write and read big books about it analyzing every little thing like it was the JFK Assassination or aliens found in the desert.

I think it is helpful to focus on what Mary actually said, which is listed here, and like I said, is very brief.

Mary talked generally about mankind’s sins and offenses against God. Obviously, abortion would be a huge sin and offense. But she didn’t talk about it specifically.

Also, with respect to praying for the conversion of Russia, there are two things to keep in mind:
  1. God is outside of time, so if one prayed for Russia today, God could use that prayer now today to make Russia more holy, or use it in the past to help Communism fall. Therefore, one could still pray for Russia.
  2. Even though Communism has fallen in Russia, there are still plenty of countries with a Communist or other oppressive regime that is hindering Catholicism. If you decided you did not want to pray any more for Russia as it’s already converted, you could pray for China. The Church is underground there. Our Lady should not have to come back and say, “Pray for China too, please.” She expects us to understand that we should do that. Or we could just pray generally that the Church triumphs over Communism everywhere and over all oppression.

It’s interesting how often the Immaculate Heart is mentioned. She seemed to really emphasize it; even more than the First Saturdays devotion.

Which reminds me: Lately, I’ve begun to really emphasize the Immaculate Heart in my devotions; even going to the point of binding myself to the Immaculate Heart so my interior life may be ruled by her heart.

My next question would be: What’s entailed in the devotion of the Immaculate Heart?
 
Yes, the Fatima message is permanent and meant to remain so forever. 🙂

So long as there is evil in the World, the request to pray the Rosary and follow what Our Lady asked for remains relevant.

I was born in Portugal, my maternal Grandmother was 12 years old at the time of the apparitions, she was well aware of the events that took place in Fatima and she prayed the Rosary every single day, just before going to bed. I remember that very well. 🙂
 
The very best book is Fr Apostoli’s “Fatima For Today”. He does not promote conspiracy theories 🙂

No the three secrets were not revealed. The third is only partial. The rest of it is far to hard for humanity to hear. What they released is nothing.
 
Only a matter of time on these threads before the conspiracy theorists come out. I see a couple already have.

Yes, that is correct, in regards to the third secret. Only part has been published, the entire contents can’t be released just like that. It is far too complex, it seems.

Some things about Fatima are quite extraordinary. The gold Crown on the image of Our Lady was manufactured in 1942, made from gold donated by the thousands of mothers in Portugal, in a gesture of thanksgiving. When Pope John Paul II visited Portugal in 1982, he offered one of the bullets that had hit Him in Rome, to the Sanctuary of Fatima.

The Sanctuary then decided to place the bullet inside the Crown and charged the same goldsmiths that had made the Crown in 1942, with the task to study the best way of fitting the bullet inside the Crown.

As it turned out, and to everyone’s complete astonishment, it was discovered that the circular ring on the inside, where the arms of the Crown join together under the blue globe had a diameter EXACTLY the same as the diameter/calibre of the bullet. The bullet was simply inserted snugly inside the inner ring, so perfect was the fit, it was just a matter of sliding the bullet in it.

Incredible, but completely true.

When I stood in a room with Fr Andrew Apostoli and he told me I can trust Pope John Paul II and Sr Lucia, I believed him. Still do.

Yes, because Russia is an Orthodox country, not Catholic. You should pray for their conversion to Catholicism, because Russia still persecutes Catholics.

You are correct that only a partial reveal of the third secret has occurred. We do not know the entirety of the third secret. I have heard that Pope Benedict XVI has read the entire third secret, as written down by Sister Lucia. Pope Benedict has said the message of the third secret and what Our Lady of Akita said is one of the same.

Our Lady of Akita warned that a great apostasy would enter the Church, and we would see bishop against bishop, and priest against priest. This is what we are seeing today!
 
It isn’t conspiracy. You seriously think it was supposed to be revealed in 1960, just for Pope Saint John XXlll to not release it, and then every other pope to conceal it and then in 2000 it is released and is the most simple thing? Mary holding her hand out? That’s it? Give me a break. Maybe that is part of it but the notion that is it and was kept secret for so many years is just incomprehensible.
 
Yah. The Church never should have suppressed the saying of the Leonine Prayers.
 
It really isn’t being Orthodox that makes their need so dire. Otherwise we would be praying for all of the Orthodox. Which we should pray for reconciliation.
But the Russian Orthodox Church is different than all the others in the fact the state has so much influence over it.
 
I believe the one to whom the revelations were given that the requests have been fulfilled and sufficiently shared. That’s enough.
