👍👍👍👍

It must have taken a fair amount of time to come up with this list…

Excellent work my friend!

fpt, I just looked at your other posts. With the exception of your first introductory post, it appears that you have several questions about Church teachings regarding sex and procreation. It is my opinion that you will get good answers to your questions here at CAF. Welcome!

I’m confused. Are you saying that you think it’s wrong to have sex with your spouse in a hotel room, etc.?

If you are stating that in no case you have listed, is there a sin being committed, then you would be absolutely correct! However, I would not recommend that a husband approach his wife for sexual intimacy on the very day she is delivering their child! (Although I have heard that having sex can bring on labor…😊)

And getting ready for Mass usually doesn’t include having sex, but if you plan ahead, why not? 😉

As long as the act is both unitive and open to life (procreative), we have all sorts of choices about sexual intimacy.

🙂

After a lot of readings of books, forums, articles…etc from the beginning of the catholic Church and untill now , I note that thes moral opinions on these topics are so different.

This is research and just a poll.

From France as catholic I want to understand the Anglo-saxon approaches and american approaches on this topics. For me, after many readings of US forums and this forum (threads about conjugal ethics, marital life…etc some sentences ans statements seem to me very strange.

It is a poll and the opening of debate about these topics. I make a summary about the different subtopics.

Positions of catholic lay persons or catholic thinkers are too much different, I try to make a synthesis and to share it.

Sometimes the conjugal act can bring on labor., but per se if there are no medical problems, conjugal making love is not a sin even just before the end of pregnancy. If each members of couple are okay no problem if no medical issue.

I have read in the article that sometimes cathloic devout wifes or husbands are so
be embarrassed to have sex before going to mass and after. Why???

As long as the act is both unitive and open to life (procreative), we have all sorts of choices about sexual intimacy.

I agree with you

Welllll…speaking only for myself…I can say that in preparing myself to receive Jesus in the Holy Sacrament of the Eucharist, I am not thinking of my physical body but thinking of my spiritual self. I am raising my mind up to be with Jesus. The contrast between the physical pleasure of sexual intimacy would be too much for me just before Mass. Or for an hour or so afterward. I want to let Jesus suffuse through my body and not switch my focus to my relationship with my husband (as good as that is).

I hope that is clear.

I recommend for clarity you revise your first statement as such:
Per se, is it objectively sinful to practice conjugal act in function of:
Many of these could be immoral depending on the circumstances. None of them are sinful in and of themselves though. I have never seen most of these questioned on a forum though. The most common one questioned has to do with regards to when a woman is menstruating, but other than that the rest seem pretty common sense to me.

Actually, I am okay with you on the meaning of my question: your interpretation is the good one. It seems to me that you have understood my question.

Concerning your rephrasing, I understand the object, but in my opinion having in the same sentence "Per se and objectively " is a repeat (the same meaning). Of course I can make a mistake and a false interpretation.

Why would any of these things be sinful?
Per se, I say “per se” having conjugal sex, during these times and in these places , is objectively not sinful, not wrong, not impur (in the spiritual meaning).

According to my readings and my understandings of catholic teaching, of books of catholic doctors, of readings of catholic philosophers, of articles of catholic jurists (Natural Law, Natural Order, Divine Law, Canon Law), making love for a catholic couple in these contexts are not wrong, not sinful.

My statement can be of course commented and critized.

For me Catholicism is true liberty. The big problem is to understand the meaning, the differents elements. Catholic religion is not the ancient testament, I mean a “simple” list with prohibitions.

My purpose is to open a debate on the types of doctrines (doxa) or practices (praxis) within catholic marriage that are bellow……:

Pharisianism, Legalism and Juridicism, Externalism, Prejudicism;
Moralism, Scrupulism, Dolorism;
Pessimism, Encratism, Manicheism, Catharism, Jansenism, Rigorism, Puritanism, Neo-puritanism, Prudism, Prudishness, Victorianism, Neo-victorianism;
Obscuranticism, Absolute Mythologism, Tabouism ;
Sexism, Masculinism, Misogynism, Machism, Radical Feminism, Misandrism, Absolute Physiologism, Gender Theory;
Absolute Procreationsim, Theoretical Providentialism and Quiverfull movement.
Primary Anti-personalism

…. in order to know if in the XXI century there are many catholic couples and catholic thinkers, and christian couples and christian thinkers who teach, who promote, who live with in the conjugal life.

Topics of family life:
  • Responsible procreation (NFP, take care or educate, debate on the theological and philosophical basis of Humanae vitae);
  • Finalities of marriage (primary purposes, secondary purposes before vatican II it seems - to verify in the details - or the same level like in Humanae Vitae);
  • Conjugal act (general meaning, meaning of sexual pleasure, meaning of conjugal orgasm - why, what for - ; material element, intellectual element, when, where, how before and after the act itself; the limits of sexual pleasure - how to evaluate the moderation - ; wife impotence, husband impotence in the catholic meaning);
  • Wife role and husband role in the couple and in the family;
For some years I have been reading about the wedding and its different topics (books, e-books, articles, and blogs, wedsites, and internet forums) and it seems to me that catholic people are too much rigid or too much liberal. There are catholic disinformation, catholic illiteracy. People are not enough educated in their religion (bad interpretation too strict or too liberal).

On this forum and on the others catholic forums there are approaches that for me are strange.

I have phrases and commentaries coming catholic couples, coming from christian couples or catholic thinkers, that are so different, no compatible. To discern correctly without ideology, without bad basis, it is difficult.

Often true devout catholic couples seem to be scrupulous, very pessimist, see the sin everywhere. In fact, they would want… I can not say. Conjugal intimacy would be only tolerable.

I would like to debate with catholic lay persons about that and to share
