I had posted a link referenced study along with some questions to the apologists but they have not gotten back to me. Can anyone here answer my questions?

My questions are based on the information that I found at this link which appears to validate that the Original Passover Lamb was Slain on a Wednesday. Most of Christian tradition claims Jesus was crucified on a Friday and that he was the passover Lamb yet Jesus claimed to fulfill all things in the Laws of moses. Why does this paradox exhist? Was Jesus really who Christianity claims him to be? Please review information before response.

This next link appears to illustrate that the bible can lead men to false perceptions of understanding if they are built on half the truth.

thedeathandresurection.com/pdf/The%20trouble%20with%20translations%20of%20Exodus%2016%201-2.pdf

It asks three questions which I though I knew the answer too untill i read further and found there was more information specific to the topic. Can anyone tell me if the information found at these links is correct and accurate. They appear to be but I would like another opinion.

God Bless

I fogot to ask my questions. Does this information seem to be accurate?

I changed my answer to the three questions asked in the study on Exodus 16:1-2. Would any of you change your answers to the same three questions?

I look forward to your responses

I can’t access the websites. What exactly are your three questions?

They were not my three questions but three questions asked in the link referenced study. It’s in PDF. If you do not have a PDF viewer. You might not be able to open it. I have copy and pasted the information from the link to what you see below. My questions are:

Is this information accurate? Would you change your answers to the three questions asked after reading numbers 33 as illustrated in this study?

The document is too long to import into this thread since the thread has a limit on words.

You could download PDF viewer 9 from Adobe reader and you’ll be able to access the link.

Are you the author of those documents?
No. Some guy named todd vetter… you can find his e-mail on the main page of his website. I though about writing him but I want to see what other catholics will say about this stuff after careful review.

I have to say, he has alot of history and interesting perceptions based on what I have seen and read so far. Everything I have seen so far, though it goes contrary to my traditional perceptions is a truth based on the historical evidence presented.

If correct. this stuff could change history books.

I’m impressed and overwhelmed by it.

I asked because I saw you promoted the links on another thread…

Church history will not change. I’ve heard the argument made by a Messianic Jew once. Do you believe this guy or the Bible? That’s what it comes down too.

It wasn’t so much promoting as I am wanting answers.

The majority of Christiantiy has claimed for centuries that Jesus is the messiah. Part of that claim is that he was the passover lamb in the year of his crucifixion.

Jesus made his own claim that he fulfilled all things in the Laws of moses, prophets and psalms.

The Laws of Moses based on this guys study illustrates that the original passover lamb of exodus 12 was slain on a wednesday.

Why do Christians Claim Jesus died friday if he was said to fulfill the Laws of Moses regarding the Lamb? Is Jesus who the Christian world claims him to be if he did not die on a wednsday. There is the 3 days and 3 nights prophecy of Jesus that has been a concept of controversy for as long as I have been raised in religion.

If Jesus was Crucified on a wednesday. It would make sense that he fulfilled the laws of moses and the 3 days and 3 nights prophecy.

What Physical evidence do we have than any of this has any credibility whether catholic tradition or prophetic fulfillment?

What’s this guy’s credentials, other than a blog that has one post on it from May 2009?

The Passover meal was part of the covenant from God and men. It required an active participation. In reading Exodus 12:17, we see this was to be done perpetually, for ever. To reject the Last Supper as the adjustment to, or replacement of, or more specifically a fulfillment of, the covenant command of God, means we should still be celebrating the Passover meal as prescribed by God.

We know from Jeremiah 31:31, a new covenant was prophesied. This prophesy was brought to mind in the New Testament, in a letter from St. Paul to the Hebrews 8:7 – 12.

The prescription of the Passover meal was detailed and clear from the Lord, as written in Exodus 12.

A lamb without blemish was to be slaughtered at twilight, eaten with unleavened bread, the lamb’s blood was to be sprinkled on the doorposts with hyssop, none of the lamb’s bones were to be broken, and this ordinance was to be celebrated perpetually.

The Jewish Passover meal consisted of:
  1. The Festival Blessing – Drink from the 1st cup of wine.
  2. Passover Narrative and Little Hallel (Psalms 113) – Drink from 2nd cup of wine.
  3. Main Meal: roasted lamb, unleavened bread, and bitter herbs and spices – Drink from 3rd cup of wine.
  4. Great Hallel (Psalms 114 – 118) and the drinking of the 4th cup of wine, and closed when presiding priest or host says the phrase, “TEL TELESTI” which is interpreted as “It is finished” or “It is consummated”.
Now let’s look at the Lord’s Supper that occurred during the celebration of the Passover, or Seder, meal.

3 of the Gospel authors told us about the Lord’s Supper. Matthew, Mark and Luke wrote about it. All 3 say He gave the cup, of the new covenant, to the Apostles and told them to drink, but it does not tell us that Christ, the High Priest, drank of the cup. Matthew 26:29, Mark 14:25 and Luke 22:18, tells us that, during the Passover meal, Christ announced He would not drink fruit of the vine again, until he drank it in the Kingdom of God. After making this announcement, Matthew 26:30 and Mark 14:26 tell us, “Then, after singing a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.” After singing a hymn, the great Hallel, they went out to the garden, without the High Priest closing the celebration, not only not closing the celebration, but declaring He would not drink fruit of the vine again, until He drank it in the Kingdom of God. He did not say, “It is finished” or “It is consummated”.
In the garden, our Lord prayed to the father to let this cup be passed from Him, if it was the Father’s will. Matthew 22:44 tells us that Christ prayed this 3 times. What cup was Christ praying be passed from Him? I believe it was the 4th cup that closed the Passover meal, which was fulfilled with the Lord’s Supper.

When God made the covenant with Moses, Moses asked who to tell had told him of the covenant, Exodus 3:13 – 14. God told Moses, “I am, who I am.”

When Christ was arrested in the garden, He asked who they were looking for and they replied, “Jesus of Nazareth”. In John 18:5, Jesus told them, “I AM he”. When those arresting Him heard this, they went backward and fell to the ground (John 18:6).

Mark 15:22 – 24 told us that Christ was offered wine drugged with myrrh, but He did not drink it.

John 19:28 – 30 explains that Our Lord, aware that everything was now finished, in order that scripture might be fulfilled, said, “I thirst”. Hearing this, they took a sponge and dipped it in common wine, sour wine, fruit of the vine, and held it up to His mouth with hyssop. After taking the wine, our Lord said, “It is finished”, bowed His head and gave up the spirit.

John 19:33 – 38 told us that our Lord’s legs were not broken, so that scripture might be fulfilled.

Mark 15:33 – 34 tells us the time the Lamb of God death, which was twilight, the same time Moses was instructed to slaughter the sacrificial lamb.

Christ came to fulfill the law, and it was fulfilled with the new covenant. A covenant of God and men, that requires participation of those being set free.

Scanning both of the guy’s ‘documents’, he doesn’t mention a year anywhere that I could see. He does however, repeat days of the month, Don’t the days of the month change from year to year? And no one today, can p(name removed by moderator)oint exactly what year the exodus took place…

The time line found at this link illustrates multiple years that have been debated by theologens. Much of this debate is evident when you do a search on the year of the crucifixion. many sites point to different years and different days of the week.

thedeathandresurection.com/pdf/the%20death%20and%20resurrection.pdf

I found this link to be the most facinating since is illustrates the problems with many of the years in questions and uses mulitple time specific prophecies to narrow in on what could be the correct day for the crucifixion.

This guy has done his home work so to speak. My question is much likes the one you asked. What is this guys credintials? Does he need certification documentation to have studied this topic from what appears to be every possible angle and from every available historical testimony for the Topic?

What is your take on this study?

Doesn’t which day of the week first Nissan falls on vary by the year? (and hence, of course, 14 or 15 Nissan)

There are great debates on exactly what year Christ died in…Now let’s go back in time a few hundred centuries before that to find out exactly what year the exodus took place…

The guy that wrote those documents has a blog with that single post on it. What I found rather ‘funny’ was the donate link on his blog…

It appears to be a support link for the entire site, the JesusCentral site? I mean the blog site, not the original site that OP gave us.

The original site seems to point to very specific issues, like born of a virgin, and possibly hints that it is concerned about changes to the words in the bible, making me wonder about the site’s view of inspiration (of the bible).

according to the studies shared at the link for the time line, you are correct. He appears to text 30 AD , 31 AD, and 33 AD. He uses the Hebew calendar as well as the lunar cycle in concert with the week cycle to determine the 14th and 15th of Nissan for each year.

He also appears to use the Time specific prophecies as a baseline for truth since Jesus claimed to fulfill those. Then he uses as much of the historical record to illustrate that Jesus did full fill the Laws of Moses, prophets, and psalms, but only if Jesus died in 30 AD on a Wednesday.

At least this is what I am getting from this.

I have taken me some time to go through all this guys research and I have to say that the time line presented at this link is about the most objective time line I have seen to date.

thedeathandresurection.com/pdf/the%20death%20and%20resurrection.pdf

I can’t say one way or the other that the theory presented towards the end of the time line study is correct untill the event either happens or doesn’t happen. I am however inclined to agree with much of his presentation regarding the day of the week and the year due to the overwhelming ammount of Catholic doctrine and history used to present the fulfilment of time specific prophecy.

This study is a must read for all.

God Bless

They were not my three questions but three questions asked in the link referenced study. It’s in PDF. If you do not have a PDF viewer. You might not be able to open it. I have copy and pasted the information from the link to what you see below. My questions are:

Is this information accurate? Would you change your answers to the three questions asked after reading numbers 33 as illustrated in this study?

I still can’t access the website. BTW, if it’s too long to post, it’s too long to answer. Please briefly synopsized and post your questions.

Why is it so important to know the ‘correct’ day of the crucifixion?

Christ was crucified and died for my sins, regardless.

Christ has died.
Christ is risen!
Christ will come again!

Amen!

It’s a difference between truth and a lie. If a lie only sows discord who then is united to the spirit of God when the true worshippers of God are in spirit and in truth?

Truth for this issue can give many who disbelive a reason to believe.

Truth will set men free. The lie keeps people divided denominationally and spiritually.

This is a matter of importance in a much grander sceme of things.

Very respectfully,
