I am wondering, I have been reading he ECF and want to go back to the doctrines they held…

These include- Polycarp, Iraneus, Ignatius, ect…

But I am wondering where these guys Roman Catholic, Eastern, or what?

I love Polycarp, and love reading about his and his story, could he be my saint or how does that work?

Whats the big differances between Eatern and Roman?

Also all of these stories of those days, why isnt the RCC and Eastern that exciting today? I read alot about Protestant debates and dealings, but done see much in he Catholic side.

thanks

The Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Churches were united at the time of the ECF. They are part of our shared tradition and heritage.

What you see as “exciting” we Catholics see as “divisive”. One of the many roles of the Church is to give an infallible ruling on faith and morals. Thus, once the Church makes an official ruling on a matter of faith and morals it is no longer up for debate, and all the Faithful are required to believe in it in order to be in good standing with the Church.
