I decided to start this thread in this forum because I definitely want us all to continue to pray for the conversion of our friends and family members.

But, I have a question and I value the (name removed by moderator)ut of those here.

One particular couple in my family - non-Catholic of course - I have been praying for them for almost a year now for their conversion… I just finished a 54 day novena with that intention. I then immediately started another one.

I recently learned that this couple is having problems and he is thinking of moving out. He does not wish for this but she is making things hard, tells him she wants a divorcce, she doesn’t love him any more,. …picks fights whereever she can. He’s hanging in there but getting really really tired of it.

Both have stopped attending church - they used to attend some kind of non-denom mega church etc. -

They have a 5 year old daughter whom they adopted 3 years ago.

When I learned of their marital problems, I though "Oooh if they could just come Home to the Church they would both (hopefully) see things a lot differently and maybe a lot of these problems would be alleviated.

ANYWAY - here’s my question … is there anything I can do other than pray? I am sorely tempted to send them a magazine or a prayer book or something. Anonymously.😊

I have a green scapular to plant in their house but they live several hours away and I haven’t been to visit lately.

I really feel compelled to do something to sort of “nudge” them and hopefully turn their attention towards Home…

They do not know that I am aware of their problems. Although I’ve tried in the past and was asked by the husband not to bring up religion any more…the husband is a little more “religious” (for lack of a better word) than his wife.

She is a little hard-headed (spoken with fondness) and unless it fits within her realm of what-she-thinks-is-right she would probably be the harder one to convert.

So, what can I do , if anything. Mag subscription to this rock magazine? a video? rosary? prayer book? nothing?

🤷 Thanks. Sorry this is so long and choppy!!:o

Oh, and keep praying. My prayers go for all members here who are all praying for this purpose.

God bless…😊

P.S. I always add to my prayers, “Your Will Be Done”!!!

Thats a hard situation and I don’t really know how to respond as every situation is different. What my feeling is to maybe say something to them, expecting to be rejected but with the intention of planting some sort of seed. After that just pray for them and maybe that seed will grow into a conversion. Also, try praying to Our Lady, our mother and Queen, and St. Monica. Anyway I hope everything works out.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Please say the following prayer right now to release 1,000 souls from purgatory (Approval and Recommendation signed by M. Cardinal Pahiarca, Lisbon, Portugal March 4, 1936.): Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy Souls in Purgatory. Amen

I will pray for this couple and their little daughter.

Why don’t you just simply send them a written prayer. If they are not Catholic, then you might want to keep “Our Mother” out of the prayer. You don’t want to anger anyone or make them have a doubt about the prayer.

Don’t hide who the prayer is from, just drop a note inside that says something like “You have all been on my mind lately, and I love you”.

Here is a little prayer that I love.

O Jesus, I humbly implore you to grant you special grces to this family. May their home be a shrine of peace, purity, love, labor, and faith. I beg you Jesus to protect and bless all of them. Send your angel from heaven to visit and protect, to comfort and defend all of them. AMEN

Its a hard situation, but you dont want to get too involved in.
I would suggest just ask if they need anything.
Asking doesnt hurt anyone, and it will also show them that you care and are there to support them if they do wish to reach out for help.
I will pray for them also.

Good advice so far, all, thanks.

I agree that it is wise not to get too involved. Especially since they don’t know I know!!

I do love that prayer, pyropam, and I think I’ll send it to them, on the premise of sending them a Thanksgiving card!!

I’m going to continue to pray very hard for their conversions. And for everyone here.

If there is something else to be done, hopefully it will manifest itself quite clearly. 😃

This past week at Mass, our priest’s Homily was about people who have fallen away from the Church, more specifically due to the fact that they may have prayed really hard for someone/something and didn’t “see” the result. He then went on to explain that although we may never feel our prayers are answered, God hears each one of them and responds to each one of them according to His Will. He said to keep praying and God’s Grace will take care of the rest.

Definitely keep praying, I will offer my Rosary today for the conversion of souls in everyone’s family - and mine as well.

A couple of weeks ago, Fr. Benedict Groeschel had a show on fallen away family members. He said do not become discouraged and to keep praying. Be gentle. Listen carefully to the fallen away family members. He said to ask Blessed Mother Teresa to intercede for fallen away family members. He said once Blessed Mother Teresa is after you, you better watch out! Fr. Groeschel said he is keeping Blessed Mother Teresa very busy with many projects. Blessed Mother Teresa please intercede for our fallen away family members! Amen!:gopray2:
