This looks very interesting, but I can’t view the discussion on carm. Do I have to register on their forums to see the threads?

Yes, you have to register to view the forums (it doesn’t take long, however, and doesn’t require an email confirmation). I warn you, though, that it truly hurts to see spockrates try to make valid points and simply gets talked past.

Yes, you have to register, but all that requires is providing a user name, pw and email address (like here).

Oh, I don’t know. The good folks there are a lot like the good ones here–they just have a different take on things.

It looks like you are doing a really good job. Keep up the good work. I started talking to this guy called Mr. Logic about baptsim in the Baptism category. It is in the threads “Watery Asssumption!!!” and Grace by Faith or a Work???" So far, it seems like it is going well.

The threads on CA look so much stronger than CARM.

Glad to hear you’ve stopped by too. I’ll check it out.

👍

Oh, you’re most likely right. I’m just too impatient for people who don’t immediately grasp the truth behind God’s Word and His Church. That’s while I’ll never make a good apologist, or a teacher. I’ll leave that to folks like you. Regardless, keep fighting the good fight, and don’t back down.

No problem. You should go where the truth and your desire leads you!

What’s your user name at carm.org, VW?

Hmmm, one of them is insisting that the Catholic Church gave up belief in transubstantiation at the Council of Trent. >_>

What source they have for that I would like to know.

LOL! Yeah. Church history is not my strong point, so those historical revisions remain unanswered. I just keep focusing on Scripture and logic.

It’s not mine, but usually the documents are available online. For this specific example (I replied as Prophet), I wikipedia’d the Council of Trent, skimmed through the article paying attention to mentions about the Eucharist (if the Catholics did drop the teaching to transubstantion, it would be article worthy). After finding out which session the Eucharist was discussed (the 13th session which I read on Friday the 13th, oh no!), I then found the pronouncement on the Eucharist which blatantly refuted his point. I don’t expect much of an answer.

If they mention any part of Church history that sounds wonky, feel free to ask for a source (“that’s interesting, do you know where I’d be able to read that, like the pronouncement, decree or encyclical etc for myself?”). Make sure not to sound too taken back, or too aggressive, just make it look like you’re taking interest in the point and they’ll be more likely to give you the link. If it’s 3rd party information, then you can just go to a more authoritative source.

Cool, how did I do?
I more or less just took on my own debate, though St. Hilarious seems to have given up. That’s what I hate about CARM, you utterly beat them on a point and then they either change the subject or just vanish.

Exactly, that what I saw from the thread that spockrates made. StHilarious claims he/she is a former Catholic when we had converse, but I think this person is telling a BIG fib.

I think that you are both partially right and partially wrong.
StHilarious is likely a convert from cradle Catholicism, he probably received about as much Catholicism from catechism as I did. And this is the fib, he thinks he knows a lot about Catholicism.

I’m feeling that the CAF is a castle, and I’m a knight looking for a fight (not against flesh and blood, of course!) This castle, however, is well protected. There’s not a whole lot of spiritual warfare going on, except, perhaps, that of usurpers dressed in wool.

So what’s a knight of the Round CAF Table to do? I’m thinking road trip. You know, a quest! Only problem is that I’m not sure where to go. Anyone know of any Non-Catholic forums where there are thoughtful and respectful dialogs to engage, and demonic dragons behind the scenes to slay?

The quest for truth is worthy of the adventures of the journey.
