In a Catholic book of prayers that I bought for personal use that is stamped with the NIHIL OBSTAT, there is a statement about God’s nature that says this:
“God is a pure spirit, a sovereign intelligence who has no body and who cannot be perceived by our senses.”
A sovereign intelligence who has no body?
My question is, doesn’t Jesus have a body? It was my understanding that He took up a body in the Incarnation. Now, if Jesus has a body, and if Jesus is God, doesn’t God have a body? Jesus’ body? I am confused. Please help a poor simpleton understand this.
