Quick question about incense charcoal

Will just plain charcoal briquettes work, or do I need incense-specific charcoal? Seems like if charcoal briquettes would work, they’d save me quite a bit of money.

Many of the “plain” self-light charcoals will have a smell of lighter fluid at first. I wouldn’t want that smell inside. The incense charcoal does not have that smell. It burns pretty clean.
 
Safest to get the stuff made for it, or your incense may smell like smokey barbeque flavor. 😉

I have tried that myself. It doesn’t work so I stick with three kings charcoal. It works the best. Scoob.

Actually, my wife and I don’t use charcoal any more. We got some Orthodox incense and heat it on a light bulb – just sit it on the top. It melts and gives off scent without burning, so you don’t get that bad smell like burning tar. Only downside is that it leaves a brown residue on your light bulb.

Or I sometimes use a little fry pan the tiny ones that you find at Walmart they used to atleast sell them 4 inches in diameter and put the incense in the little fry pan and put it on an electric stove or burner. Though I like using my thurible so I mainly use incense charcoal. Scoob
