Quick Question of St Faustinas Diary

Hi guys I know there have been lots of threads about St Faustinas Diary in the past regarding some passages contained in her book. I don’t find most of what she says problematic. In fact the questions I have dont even seem that much of a problem. However I have never heard anybody address the certain passages I have in mind. Most people just say “Its been approved by the Church so its good enough for me” or “Do you not trust the churchs decision?”. I do trust the Church however I would just like some clarification because none of those answes actually help me out. So here the first quote from the diary, “There are souls who thwart My efforts (1682). Souls without love or devotion, souls full of egoism and selfishness, proud and arrogant souls full of deceit and hypocrisy, lukewarm souls who have just enough warmth to keep themselves alive: My Heart cannot bear this. All the graces that I pour out upon them flow off them as off the face of a rock. I cannot stand them because they are neither good nor bad (1702).” First what does Jesus mean what he says “I cannot stand them becasue they are neither good nor bad”. Heres the second quote where Jesus says “I see your love so pure, purer than that of the angels”, is it possible for us to have purer love than the Angels? Obviously purer than Fallen Angels. But Heavenly Angels? Im not sure. I know I heard once that the demons told Padre Pio that he gave them more trouble than St Michael. What do you guys think? I’ll be open to any answers.
 
  1. Substitute the word “people” for souls.
  2. I don’t think we’re purer than angels either, but here she is referring to angels who can’t help but be good. It’s more difficult for regular “souls” to be constantly good. I mean, the angels who are faithful, are, well…faithful. 😉

I’ve read that sloth is the worst of the seven deadly sins. I’m not sure, but I think the only thing worse is ‘the sin against the Holy Spirit’. He is trying to tell St. Faustina, in words she’ll understand, that they are being offered graces and not taking them, yet they do not walk away from God either. They are not confused, misguided or blind to God. They simply refuse to take His hand because they are busy with something else. They keep saying to God, “later, come back later”, yet they know they could die at any moment and have to face God. And still, they refuse to accept graces needed to live. Is God saying that their soul is more likely to be lost if they don’t come around before they die?

Sounds like a pretty good answer. What about the Angels part? Im not I understand the first poster’s reply.
 
St. Faustina’s diary opens up my sacerdotal life. Though your analysis may have been half-understood, please do believe that God is always in good will. Thanks.

This quote is not at all confusing when read in its context.

More context:

**I cannot stand them, because they are neither good or bad. I called convents into being to sanctify the world through them. It is from them that a powerful flame of love and sacrifice should burst forth. And if they do not repent and become enkindled by their first love, I will deliver them over to the fate of this world…

How can they sit on the promised throne of judgment to judge the world, when their guilt is greater than the guilt of the world? There is neither penance nor atonement. O heart, which received Me in the morning and at noon are all ablaze with hatred against Me, hatred of all sorts! O heart especially chosen by Me, were you chosen for this, to give Me more pain? The great sins of the world are superficial wounds on My Heart, but the sins of a chosen soul pierce My Heart through and through…**

1703 When I tried to intercede for them, I could find nothing with which (75) to excuse them and, being at the time unable to think of anything in their defense, my heart was seized with pain, and I wept bitterly. Then the Lord looked at me kindly and comforted me with these words: Do not cry. There are still a great number of souls who love Me very much, but My Heart desires to be loved by all and, because My love is great, that is why I warn and chastise them.
Heres the second quote where Jesus says “I see your love so pure, purer than that of the angels”, is it possible for us to have purer love than the Angels?

Suffering is a great grace; through suffering the soul becomes like the Savior; in suffering love becomes crystallized; the greater the suffering, the purer the love. (Diary 57.)

Pure love is capable of great deeds, and it is not broken by difficulty or adversity. As it remains strong in the midst of great difficulties, so too it perseveres in the toilsome and drab life of each day. It knows that only one thing is needed to please God: to do even the smallest things out of great love – love, and always love. (Diary 140.)

And now for the context of your quote:

In the evening, over the radio, I heard hymns; that is, psalms, sung by priests.185 I burst into tears, and all of the pain was renewed in my soul, and I wept sorrowfully, unable to find appeasement in this pain. Then I heard a voice in my soul: Do not cry; I am not suffering any more. And for the faithfulness with which you accompanied Me in My sufferings and death, your own death will be a solemn one, and I will accompany you in that last hour. Beloved pearl of My Heart, I see your love so pure, purer than that of the angels, and all the more so because you keep fighting. For your sake I bless the world. I see your efforts to please Me, and they delight My Heart. (Diary 1061.)

So, according to St. Faustina’s diary, a human can have a purer love for God than an angel has, because a human’s love is perfected in suffering.
