Quick veil question

We have veiled for a couple of years now. We only veil when at Mass or at adoration with the blessed sacrament. We are Roman Catholics and are the only ones that veil in our church.

the question is, my girls are in a childrens choir and practice in the church loft. i do not have them wear their veils. first off they go from CCD to choir by themselves. they would have to be in charge of their veil throughout class and as young as they are 6 and 9 it would be a distraction. then be responceible for putting it on and wearing it at practice. all of this would be a further distraction without me there. my question is, if we have made this commitment to veil is it confusing things by not having them veil at practice that is in the church?

any thoughts would be great.

Could they wear a wide headband to choir practice and CCD? Headcovering is not limited to veils. I think they could understand this at their age.

You could also attach their veil to a small headband - then they would put it on and not have to fuss with it. A great way to teach a small bit of responsibility in a very simple way to young girls - they can watch out for each other this way and make sure they both remember.

I think a “wide headband” is more confusing than anything. Wearing a hair ornament is NOT covering your head. They could wear a wide headband out to play or to school - it is not something kept special and apart which is a good learning example for them at this age.

How about bandanas…different colors? Hobby Lobby has all kinds of cute colors for about 1.00… you can check out Garlands of Grace (google them on the internet, they make girls sizes) as well for some cute ideas.

It is an old question in Christianity whether the rule about women being veiled applied to all females, or just to married women (or those of marriageable age).

I have a two girls around the same age: 7 & 11 who are able to put their own chapel caps on and take them off easily enough.

I sewed a little hair clip in the center of their veils.

Just make sure they have them after choir practice.

Kudos to you and yours for being the only ones. Takes a gutsy girl to be a trend setter.
