My sister-in-law mentioned “quickening” to me - why time seems to be going faster now then ever before. She said it is in the Bible. She is Lutheran and I’m not sure where she is coming from with this. Any ideas?

Other than this the only “quickening” I know of is when you are pregnant and start to feel the baby move.

I have heard of it. You might try spiritdaily website and try the archives. From the articles I have read on that site, it seems to be the feeling some people have that we are hastening to the end times, and that time itself is actually affected. I can’t say that I buy it. It just seems to be some people’s thoughts and experiences interpreted to mean we are nearing the end of days.

I don’t know whether this is in the Bible. However, as we grow older we perceive time accelerating. When we are children, a day is a long time; when young adults, a week or month seems forever. With age, the days, weeks, and months seem to fly by.

Quicken, quickened, quickeneth, and quickening appear in the KJV.
Example: 1 Peter 3:18 - “quickened by the Spirit.”
Compare the same verse, RSV - “made alive in the spirit.”
