Last week my wife and I visited Gatlinburg on our first trip ever together alone. We were riding a chairlift to the top of Anakeesta mountain. It was quiet and peaceful and then the sounds of the bells from the Catholic church rang out and it was a very nice moment for us. No matter where in the world you may be, when those bells ring, it means but one thing and is so comforting. Please share any similar experiences. Peace be with all of you.

Many years ago while my husband was driving me to work, he was being verbally and emotionally abusive to me. I closed my eyes asking God to help me and to give me some peace. When I opened my eyes right there next to our car was a tractor trailer with huge lettering …G.O.D.
For a second I thought I was seeing things but there it was in broad daylight G.O.D. which I later found out stands for Guaranteed Overnight Delivery.
The rest of the day I couldn’t help smiling and being grateful knowing God actually heard my voice desperately calling out to Him. Whenever I think of how many times those trucks crossed our path just when I needed to see them I smile.

I was in Pisa, Italy and there is this graveyard near the tower. I walked in and suddenly I saw this marble carving with a scene from the book of Tobit, one of my favorites. Gave me an unexpected sensation of peace.

Thanks for this! I’ve been there and seen this, but I didn’t realize at the time that’s what the depiction was…

To the OP’s question, Gethsemani Abbey in Kentucky during a challenging time for me on retreat. Of course the Cistercians rule of silence was amazing, but so was wandering the grounds far from any other person, just “speaking silence” with the Creator, and then hearing those bells alerting you that a brisk pace was needed to make it for the next Hour of the Divine Office.

A passerby asked what is that? and I explained it is Tobit restoring Tobias sight and the angel is Raphael… this young person was immediately taken aside by her mother who explained that is not in the Bible! and gave me a dirty look… I smiled and said: peace

Very sorry that day began so rough. Thankfully it ended with you smiling. Peace be with you

Recently seen a TV show about the tower. I really had no idea what the tower was nor why the lean. Peace be with you

I have looked at going there also but still haven’t. You got me thinking again. Is that where John Michael Talbot resides ? Peace be with you

Not JMT, but it was the home of Thomas Merton. Well worth it!! You have to plan ahead; they typically book 4-6 months out, depending on your needs (week/weekend) and gender (some times are ‘co-ed’, others are not).
