I smoked a tobacco pipe for a number of years. It was a sacrament for me while I was pagan, and I was addicted to the nicotine. I was confirmed into the church recently, and I gave up smoking my pipe. Now I am going through the withdrawal stage, and I am impatient and short of temper. I have quit smoking before, but this time is much tougher. If I could find a way to go to mass more than once a week it would be easier, but it is what it is and I am doing the best I can through extra prayer and scripture study. I really would appreciate your added prayers for the strength and will to get through this withdrawal period, and for a lessening of the withdrawal symptoms. I quit smoking because it didn’t seem right to keep that habit which was borne of a pagan sacrament while accepting the sacrament of the Eucharist for the first time. It is important enough to stick with it, but some help would be greatly appreciated. I don’t use stop smoking aids other than prayer.
