Hi y’all,

I know in the face of all the challenges and disasters going on in this world, this might sound trivial, but it’s kind of a big deal in my life. I’m about to try to quit smoking for about the 10th time {SIGH!} I’m going to try taking Chantix (quit-smoking medicine) probably starting on Thursday.

I have severe anxiety disorder and take a lot of medicine already, and i’m nervous about adding more to the mix. I’m also away from home for the summer and without my usual support system, so… If y’all could just say a little prayer for me, that I’m making the right decisions doing this, and that I may succeed in my attempt to quit. I need all the help I can get!

Thanks so much, & God Bless you all!

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Hi Miss Echo,

This is certainly an important habit to overcome. Praying for you…

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Sure thing Miss Echo!

Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen. :crossrc:

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not in to temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen. :crossrc:

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. :crossrc:

Dear Miss Echo,
I also quit smoking almost 3 months ago. I used Nicorette lozenges. I also take alot of meds but that didn’t seem to affect them. But the way I REALLY quit was by constant prayer and asking people to pray for me. I will pray for you too! Remember, if you get a
craving it only lasts a few minutes (a few minutes of agony I know). Also, find something to do with your hands. I do cross-stitch but you need to have something to replace the
rituals of smoking as well as getting rid of the addiction to nicotine.

This is so very hard. I quit about 10 times but this time I spent time before the Blessed Sacrament (with the patch which I also used 10 times before but this time…). It has been 5 months to-morrow. Prayers going up!

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the living God, have mercy on Miss Echo and on all of us, sinners!

I am also trying to quit smoking so I know how hard it is. My best friend, Darrell, has been after me to quit smoking practically ever since I met him back in August of 08. I still have not been able to quit. Every time I get enough money, I go to the store and buy me a pack unless I need the money for something else. It’s so tempting. I know I am cutting days, minutes, and even years off of my life by smoking but it’s just so hard to not smoke, especially when smoking is such a stress relief for me. Anyway, keep me in your prayers as well. I will continue to pray for you as long as I can remember to do so. :crossrc:

Congratulations on your decision to quit!! Good for you!

I am an ex-smoker and my husband just quit about 6 months ago, so we know firsthand in this household the battle you face. We will definitely keep you in our prayers.

Stay strong! Ask for help when you need it!
God bless you!

Good for you Saved…my dear wife quit smoking on 8/8/88, when she knew we were getting serious and I didn’t like smoke…She’s smoke free ever since!🙂

Well there you are, Miss Echo, all these successful smoking quitters!
My son quit smoking last year.
Part of the problem is the ritual time of smoking. I ask God to help with with giving up the addiction, but also with dealing with the social and rest-break ritual of smoking.

I’ll be praying for you, that you can persvere, and that God will kindly help you to retain peace throughout!

Have a restful and happy time away. Dear God, please grant that she will!

Well, I’ve done cold turkey & I’ve done the patch - this will be my first time trying a pill. The prayers to me are absolutely essential, and I think I found something great to do with my hands - I’m making rosaries for the missions. 🙂

Thanks so much to all of you - I know prayer can do wonders! 👍

PS - My prayers are also with all of you who have quit, or are trying to quit - and all of the thousands like us around the world who struggle with addiction.

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, and my spirit exults in God my Saviour;
because He has looked upon His lowly servant.
Yes,from this day forward all generations will call me blessed,
for the Almighty has done great things for me.
Holy is his name,
and His mercy reaches from age to age for those who fear him.
He has shown the power or His arm,He has routed the proud of heart.
He has pulled down princes from their thrones and exalted the lowly.
The hungry He has filled with good things, the rich sent empty away.
He has come to the help of Israel, His servant, mindful of His mercy
  • according to the promise He made to our ancestors -
of His mercy to Abraham and to His descendants forever.
    Amen!

Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done, on earth, as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

I am also an ex smoker, for me at the time it was having my daughter, i gave up smoking when she was six weeks old because i wanted to be around to see her grow up. Well almost twenty years and three more children later i am still of them , its not easy but so worth it. When my 14 year old son started smoking and i spoke to him about it attitude was well you can’t say anything as you smoked you self. Well now i am pleased to say that he no longer smokes thanks be to God. So keep trying don’t give up you will get there in the end. Iwill remember you in my prayers God bless
