Hi everyone,

Would you like to play a quiz game?

Here is how it goes: We’ll name a Saint or Father, and you tell us the tradition or patrimony from which this Saint or Father hails?

You have six major patrimonies:
  1. Roman (Latin)
  2. Constantinopolitan (Greek, Byzantine)
  3. Alexandrian (Coptic, Ethiopian)
  4. Antiochene (West Syriac, Maronite)
  5. Armenian
  6. Chaldean (East Syriac)
Ok, here we go:

St. Gregory the Illuminater

We claim him.🙂 He acquired much of his Christian learning from Origen. His feast is on November 30 in the Synaxarion.

Blessings,
Marduk
Coptic Orthodox in Communion with Rome.

Oh really? Wow. I know that’s he’s connected with the Armenians, but didn’t know that he was also connected with the Alexandrian Origen.

By the way, everyone, you may also give your own Saints or Fathers for us to guess.

Next:

**St. Nimatullah Al-Hardini **

God bless,

Rony

Alexandrian!

One of the great Desert Fathers.

I love the story where he was called to the meeting to judge a monk caught in sin and he came with rocks tied around him. One of the other monks exclaimed “Abba Moses, what are you doing with rocks tied around you?”. He answered, “You’ve called me here to judge my brother and I just thought I ought to come bearing my own sins”. 🙂

Yes, I love this story too! A good example of the teaching in Matthew 7:1-5.

Good one - I think he could be a switch hitter. I believe he is canonically Greek/Byzantine - but he lived in the right area to be considered Antiochene.

Ummm… Greek/Byzantine - final answer!

I agree 🙂
