Quoting the Roman Missal

How does one cite liturgical texts? I know different printings of the same text won’t always have the same page numbers, so should I simply refer to the section (and subsections) and instruction number of the text?

In my case, I’m heavily citing the Roman Missal, both the 1985 English translation of the 1975 Latin edition, and the 2002 Latin edition. Should I make page references (noting the particular printing of the text) or simply say “Introductory Rites, Greeting” / “Ritus Initales, n. 2”?

I would say to just use the number next to the section rather than the page numbers.

Because of the different printings, different editions, and different editions for different countries I think it is important to include exactly which book you are referring to.

So I suggest, for example:
Missale Romanum, Libreria Editrice Vaticana, 2002, ISBN: 8820972719, page 324.
Roman Missal, Catholic Book Publishing Co., New York, 1985, page 76.

Then add extra information that would help someone with a different edition find what you are citing, such as:
Ash Wednesday, Blessing and Giving of Ashes.
Easter Vigil, n. 39.
