The challenge to disprove the Qur’an as the verbatim Speech of God by finding a discrepancy within it has been around for 1,400 years and so far, this challenge has still not been met.
Muslims like you are just as blind as the Christians who think there is no error in the bible.

The challenge itself is an error.

It is clear, and indisputiable, that the Author of the text believed the sun moved.
Perhaps you have a better method of telling that story with the idea that the earth stopped rotating? Tell us.

There are many errors in the bible. This just isnt one.

Is Koran a reliable historical record proving Jesus’ existence? If the answer is yes, the NT is a much more reliable and accurate historical record testifying to Jesus! We neither need the Koran to prove Jesus’ existence nor can rely on it since it was written six centuries after Jesus. Adopting Jesus from Christian tenets and quoting His stories from Apocryphal Gospels cannot make the Koran a reliable historical source 😉
And it was brought by Mohammad, a man I cannot trust to be alone with my nine year old girl. And if I don’t trust its bringer, why should I trust it as a truthful word of God? No, it cannot be trusted and it was not from God.

The important thing is what these texts have done for the people who read them. People find stories that give them the courage to be better spouses and parents, to quit wasting time with drugs and alcohol, and otherwise to improve their lives and the world around them. These are the real “miracles” which God performs, on a daily basis, and they’re much more powerful and poignant than silly stories about angels and devils.
In my “humble” opinion:

if christians become secular humanists, its just gonna be a little better.

if muslims become secular humanists, thats gonna be A LOT BETTER! HUMONGOUS!

…for the future of mankind.

Yes Amy the koran is not a science book but the reason i brought that up those scientific errors is because i have met sooooo many muslims who have tried to prove mohamed’s validity as a prophet of god solely through some statements which seem to be backed up by science like the whole 7 layers of heaven thing. Which supposedly proves he received divine knowledge from god. But i have found after researching it that this not the case and there is plethora of scientific errors and misconceptions attributed to mohammed in the Koran .My point is that arguing solely on the basis of the Koran’s scientific miracles is invalid.

peace:thumbsup:

^ Yeah give muslims a dose of their own medicine. There is nothing wrong with that.

Right, LaMar?

Right, Ivan?

The Seven Sleepers of Ephesus:

The story is this: Decius (249-251) once came to Ephesus to enforce his laws against Christians – a gruesome description of the horrors he made them suffer follows – here he found seven noble young men, named Maximillian, Jamblichos, Martin, John, Dionysios, Exakostodianos, and Antoninos (so Metaphrastes; the names vary considerably; Gregory of Tours has Achillides, Diomedes, Diogenus, Probatus, Stephanus, Sambatus, and Quiriacus), who were Christians.
You missed the point of my post. You tell me here that you really don’t know who the supposedly 7 guys are, because there are two completely different accounts regarding the names.

I was talking about them being turned over so they don’t get bedsores.

If God is all powerful, can he assume a human nature, YES or NO?

Vickie
God does not exist inside the creation. God does what God wills.

A human is part of the creation, while God is the creator.

Evasion, evasion! If God is omnipotent and nothing is impossible for him, he can most certainly assume a human nature!

Is it possible for God to assume a human nature, YES or NO??

God would not need to turn them over, since he could keep them from getting bedsores in the first place!

Dear Amy,

Would you please show me the Koran verse where it says “those sleepers were periodically turned over lest they got bedsores”? I need you to quote that verse, for the translations I have checked so far have nothing to support your argument. The Koran versions lack the specific reason YOU give for Allah’s turning the sleepers to the right and left.

Well, I believe that the Qur’an itself is a miracle, with miracles of the unseen. And I think that manifests itself through prophecies, superb linguistics, and knowledge of things which could not be known at that time. And frankly I do believe in scientific insights from the Qur’an.

Here’s a great essay written by my best friend called “The Qur’an, Knowledge, and Science.”

I made a post before that which you should have checked. I was explaining that we were discussing the passage in a class with the imam, and there was a retired neurologist among us in the class, and he was describing how it is necessary for a comatose patient to be turned by the nurses every 2 hours because the tissues the body is laying on will be destroyed because of the pressure.

Allah says he turned them on their sides. I’m asking YOU, why even mention it? Why mention the turning? That is what is so interesting, because a body like that MUST be turned, but that probably wasn’t known at the time.

Evasion? Yeah right. The words you choose are relevant. God says that He has power over all things.
Is it possible for God to assume a human nature, YES or NO??
God has power over all things. God does not exist inside the creation, is not part of the creation. And He established Himself upon His throne.

So for you its impossible for God to appear like a normal human being.

Just confirming. 🙂

Well, according to your understanding (I think), God can’t even lift a rock. Is God All-powerful if He can’t lift a rock?

Muslims don’t limit God… and a good (Muslim) friend of mine recently taught me a lesson, to never say “God can’t,” because how can we put limits on God? We can’t limit Him or His Power.
Well, muslim’s God can’t have a son, that’s impossible

If you want to know my answer to the paradox of the stone

there it is :

Zlatan hit the nail on the head.

Sister Amy does not use science to prove the validity of the Koran, but many Muslims do. There are websites to that end, some quoting some Canadian embryologist who loves calling a zygote a leach or some chewed up meat. Anyway, it cannot be both ways: either it is a literary devise and not a science book or it is a science book and it is therefore in error. The Bible is the same way. Now, the science may be wrong, as we have seen in the past. If science and faith disagree, either we are not seeing what we should see or we are not understanding the results yet.

this is one of legends that turned out to be Allah’s literal words according to Muhammad 😉
