Qur'an and Israel

I’m posting this here hoping it is the correct area. If not please Mr./Ms. Mod kindly move it:)

The Qur’an mentions Israel 43 times.

Would this indicate that the religion Islam recognizes Israel as a country?

Here are some examples…

7.105: (I am) worthy of not saying anything about Allah except the truth: I have come to you indeed with clear proof from your Lord, therefore send with me the children of Israel

32.23: And certainly We gave the Book to Musa, so be not in doubt concerning the receiving of it, and We made it a guide for the children of Israel.
 
its referring to the CHILDREN of Israel, NOT the state of Israel. 🙂

Yes I understand that they are the Children of Israel (Jacob)😉

My question is since Mohammed (actually God if you are Muslim) seems to have recognized them as a people did Islam recognize the history of where they called home?
 
Muslims believe that for rejecting Jesus (pbuh), the Kingdom of God was taken from them.

So you are saying that Israel belonged to the Jews and, because they rejected Jesus, it was taken from them?

Is that your personal opinion or Islamic teaching? Not sure I’m following you.
 
Muslims view Christians as going to the opposite extreme as the Jews do, rather than rejecting Jesus (pbuh) altogether they give him a position belonging only to God. So we believe they are misguided.

I wasn’t saying Israel belonged to the Jews (when the Qur’an uses this term, it’s talking about the man and calls the Jews the Children of Israel because they were descended from him, it has nothing to do with the modern secular state of Israel). What I was saying is that the Kingdom of God on Earth, and God’s favour was originally given to the Children of Israel by God on the condition that they worshiped and obeyed only him. When they fell into transgression such as polytheism and the killing of their Prophets, and finally rejecting their Messiah, the covenant they made with God was considered broken, and the favour of God was taken from them, and given to the Gentiles.

This is mainstream Islamic teaching.

I agree with you that when they tried to kill ProphetsMessengers of GodAllahYHWH, the last one being Jesus, so they broke the Covenant with GodAllahYHWH and they were deprived of the spiritual Kingdom, which was transferred to Ishmael. This is in fact the theme of Quran, in Chapter-2 Al-Baqrah.

But as human beings they are to be respected as Muslims respect others. Love for all hatred for none.

Wrong, nice try, not even close. Hebrew OT scriptures never prophesy a complete casting away of Jews at the coming of the Messiah and the New Covenant. In fact, the God of the Universe, the God of Israel says he will never cast away Israel for all they have done when he announces a New Covenant will be made. A New Covenant not like the one he made with their fathers when he lead them by the hand out of Egypt. Why, because they BROKE that covenant, even though God was like a husband to them. But yet he says he will make a New Covenant with them. Read Jeremiah 31. This prophetic scripture has been around waaaaAAAAAAAYYYyyyy longer before the beginnings of Muhummad and Islam.

There is NO, and I mean NO way to peacefully bridge your teaching to what the God of Israel says in his scripture about Israel, the land and the people.

Let’s assume we did try to kill God’s prophets. How exactly does that equate to breaking the Covenant we have with God?

To me that was the real Covenant as mentioned in Quran, the rest (mentioned in OTBible) were the outward Signs of the Covenant.
The Holy Quran : Chapter 3: Al-`Imran
[3:82] And remember the time when Allah took a covenant from the people through the Prophets, saying, ‘Whatever I give you of the Book and Wisdom and then there comes to you a Messenger, fulfilling that which is with you, you shall believe in him and help him.’ And He said, ‘Do you agree, and do you accept the responsibility which I lay upon you in this matter?’ They said, ‘We agree.’ He said, ‘Then bear witness and I am with you among the witnesses.’

I think Jesus was also of the same opinion, when he said:

And so upon you will come all the righteous blood that has been shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Berekiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar. Matthew 23:35

So killing of the Prophets is breaking the real Covenant, if you could understand, I think.
