Hi!

Has anyone heard of the quran code? Something about the number 19 and miraculous coincidences, even some predictions that the world will end in 2019

Any comments, refutations? Wasn’t sure whether to put this is the apologetics section or not, haha.

Have a good evening, everyone!

Considering that the Quran is not an inspired book, I highly doubt there’s anything legitimately prophetic in it. Also, as with the so called “Bible codes,” people have always been trying to twist various religious texts to foretell the end of the world.

Here is what you will hear as a warning for the end of the world…“hey, what was that noi…BOOM!.”

It doesn’t have to be a religious text. Some of the Bible Code debunkers applied the same methods to the texts of “War and Peace” and “Moby Dick” and duly found coincidences. See The Bible Code, War and Peace and Moby Dick.

Any reasonably long piece of general text will show some matches.

I know, right? I’ve done a little more research into it and it seems to be really forced. For example:

It claims the word “day” is in the Quran 365 times, but only certain tenses of the word. And the Islamic calendar doesn’t even have 365 days in it! 🤷

I mostly created this thread for reference tbh

:yup: 👍

There are most certainly mathematically miracles in the Quran. Yes there is such a thing as the Quran code. Considering the Quran must have come from something higher then us, i have no problem in acknowledging this fact!

You interested in buying a bridge? I’ve got for for sale.

**huh?? I have no idea what you mean./**QUOTE]

I’m not surprised.

Attempting to sell someone a bridge is a cultural colloquialism indicating that the attempted seller holds the judgment and/or intellect of the intended buyer in low esteem.

Why would you say there’s nothing legitimately prophetic about it? If you are somebody who hasn’t informed themselves about the Quranic studies and how many scientific information has been discovered because of Mohammad’s revelation, then I understand where you are coming from. But you said “considering that the Quran is not an inspired book” it just baffles me because it seems like you made a clear statement that proves something that is obviously not true. The Quran mus have been inspired by a higher power. Now, there is no doubt about that in my mind.

what scientific information has been discovered because of Muhammad’s revelation - be specific in both the discovery and the revelation.

I expect there will be pure vaguery on both counts.

It is a cultural reference:

George C. Parker (March 16, 1860 – 1936) was an American con man best known for his surprisingly successful attempts to “sell” the Brooklyn Bridge. He made his living conducting illegal sales of property he did not own, often New York’s public landmarks, to unwary immigrants. The Brooklyn Bridge was the subject of several of his transactions, predicated on the notion of the buyer controlling access to the bridge. Police removed several of his victims from the bridge as they tried to erect toll booths.

Oy! I thought we could be done with end of the world scares after 2012. This will be all over social media soon, I’m guessing.
I freak out about the end of the world stuff…so you’re saying Islam is wrong and the world won’t end in 2019?
