Happy Mother’s Day HE,
All you women need to be quiet now, and learn in silence from me. A MAN is speaking, so shut up and read reverently!
Your attitude here is a good illustration of the impossibility of G-d, at least as He is understood by the average true believer.
According to scripture, My mother, grandmother, sisters, wife and daughters (and, if I’m lucky someday, granddaughters) will all be relegated to third-class status in heaven…if they get there at all. I don’t know if a strict reading of Torah, Talmud, New Testament and Qur’an actually acknowledges women to be possessed of souls anyway, so it’s possible they will simply disappear like any other animal or piece of furniture.
In any event, it’s just another reason I reject all these woman hating creeds. Yours isn’t the only one, by the way. Your attitude would mesh perfectly with modern Mormonism. We don’t ordain female bishops. Women who get the priesthood (we call that “the second anointing”) are few and far between, and even they are required to keep silent about it in public.
What self-respecting man would want to go to heaven and see his wife and daughters with their mouths sewn shut? I’d gladly stroll into Hell if that’s the case. Fortunately for everyone, there are no such places. If there is a G-d (which I doubt) I’m confident that he’s not a looney misogynist, I doubt he’s strictly male, and I’m positive he doesn’t mind his daughters leading prayers to Him.
BTW: I talk to a female rabbi on occasion, and she’s wonderful; so I’m not the most impartial of arguers.
