From Pres. Kimball’s 1960 conference sermon:

**"The day of the Lamanites is nigh. For years they have been growing delightsome, and they are now becoming white and delightsome, as they were promised. In this picture of the twenty Lamanite missionaries, fifteen of the twenty were as light as AngIos; five were darker but equally delightsome. The children in the home placement program in Utah are often lighter than their brothers and sisters in the hogans on the reservation.

These young members of the Church are changing to whiteness and to delightsomeness. One white elder jokingly said that he and his companion were donating blood regularly to the hospital in the hope that the process might be accelerated. "**

This is priceless. And even though their prophets have been caught making monumentally stupid claims like this, they are still considered to be ‘prophets.’ Simply astounding; the ability of mankind to deceive oneself is simply stunning.

This leads into the point: how many false prophecies does it take to be a false prophet? No Mormon has ever answered me this question because they know where it leads. Thus far, we find that Smith and Young had a perfect 0% accuracy rating.

Wow… the spin, the denial of reality, the sheer mental illness of it…

Dear Lord, thank you from rescuing me from the insanity of Mormonism!
Yeah, I don’t think there really was a direct answer. They have another thread on this, but it was worse (got off topic early).

God loves all creation. He even hears the bird that falls out of the tree. Remebemr we are to preach the Gospel to all creatures.

Here’s an example of an apostle, one of the Lord’s anointed, a “prophet, seer, and revelator”, teaching over the pulpit in conference that dark skin can become white skin through membership in the church. This is from General Conference in October 1960, from a talk given by Spencer W. Kimball, who would become church president and prophet in the 1970s. President Kimball is regarded as one of the most beloved LDS prophets. In his 1960 talk, he’s referring to the church’s now defunct “Indian Placement Program”. We participated in that program when I was growing up in Utah. I had two Navajo “sisters” live with us when I was 11-17 years old.

The children in the home placement program in Utah are often lighter than their brothers and sisters in the hogans on the reservation.

"At one meeting a father and mother and their sixteen-year-old daughter were present, the little member girl-sixteen-sitting between the dark father and mother, and it was evident she was several shades lighter than her parents-on the same reservation, in the same hogan, subject to the same sun and wind and weather. There was the doctor in a Utah city who for two years had had an Indian boy in his home who stated that he was some shades lighter than the younger brother just coming into the program from the reservation. These young members of the Church are changing to whiteness and to delightsomeness. One white elder jokingly said that he and his companion were donating blood regularly to the hospital in the hope that the process might be accelerated. "** :bigyikes:

Here’s the link to the full talk in LDS church archives if anyone is interested.

That’s just pathetic stupid talk. That kind of talk can be causing people to cry and hate themselves for being the color and race God made them.

Indeed.

We have, all of us, been made in the image and likeness of God.

We are all delightful in the eyes of God because we are His creatures. He made us.

Every other division between people has not been done by God, it has been done by others.

Thanks be to God who loves us and brings us home to Him.

You know what is funny about all of this? I don’t think it’s been addressed, but if it has, I apologize.

Jesus wasn’t even “white” in the sense that we consider an individual “white”.

The sad part is, they would have denied Jesus his own priesthood because he wasn’t “white”.

Maybe they believe that, since their god was once a sinful man and Jesus was just like their god, that once Jesus stopped sinning, he became white

Which brings up another point.

Since Jesus wasn’t “white”, that would mean that the mormon god wouldn’t be “white”.

So the mormon god couldn’t hold the priesthood either.

WOW

I really like the very Caucasian, almost feminine Catholic version of Jesus; those Simone paintings remind me of when I was a kid. In reality, however, Jesus was probably short with swarthy skin and curly hair. There was a recent History Channel show in which they created a bust of what he may have looked like, based on the people known to have lived in the area at the time.

But Mormons never said that the priesthood could only be held by whites, the priesthood ban was only for black Africans…right? :hypno:

Funny how the Mormons (and Mormon apologist Ahimsa) have left the thread.

I don’t think this would qualify as “white and delightsome”, do you?

The skin would be a little too dark to be considered “white”.

The nose is also flat and broad.

Hmmm, I guess no priesthood for Jesus.

How sad!!

I gave up on Ahimsa a long time ago. He/she was playing too many word games. Which is not uncommon with mormon apologists.

He/she was the one that was trying to pin it down to black Africans, when in actuallity, anyone of black skin was denied the priesthood. Including those from the Caribbean, etc.

It is extremely hard to defend the indefensible.

I have blonde hair and when I was little and I spent too much time in the summer sun, it became white and delightsome, no lemon juice added.
You guys owe me a Sprite and a monitor cleaning! :rotfl:

There was a History Channell special that created a computer generated image, based on the Shroud of Tourin. It was called “The Real Face of Jesus”.

It was a very interesting show.

Is dianaiad still playing the “tu quoque” card?

Its a pretty sad tactic.
