Not even close to enough. People in Islam are being intimidated by thugs. Islamic governments fear the extremist. If the US were the same we would get roled over by fanatics the same way. In our country the branch davidians end up on TV in a standoff. In Islam the branch davidians end up recruiting 50,000 people.

Muslims are more often victims of terrorists than non-Muslims. They also say that terrorists aren’t following Islam, just like you say here about the KKK.
Yes, I agree that Muslims are more often victims (of Muslim terrorists) than non- Muslims. Which makes me confused about why they are supported by any of their fellow Muslims. For instance: Whoever knows where Bin Laden is and doesn’t come forward and speak up.
Or the people who applauded when the WTC towers came down.
Wait, who are these leaders?
Leaders: Iran’s president, Syria’s government.
And what makes them representatives of the Muslim world?
Well, who should I consider a representative instead? They don’ t have a Pope or a Dalai Lama… From a PR need point of view, Muslims really do need someone to stand up and speak for them, sort of like Ghandi, no exactly like Ghandi. Only thing is I think that person will be in danger of their life, like Ghandi…
Look for it and you’ll find it.
I do look for it, I see some of it, for instance on whyislam.com, and I don’t think Islam is horrible as some people on here do. OTOH I do not overlook calls for the execution of the Pope, or dancing when the WTC towers fell.

What’s so confusing about this? 100 percent of victims of American gangs are Americans. Yet gang members and leaders continue to exist and even thrive in some communities.

Does this mean that Americans secretly support criminal gangs, and root for them?
Leaders: Iran’s president, Syria’s government.
Neither Iran nor Syria have given one single dime to Al Qaeda. Syria was the main supplier of intelligence against Al Qaeda before the Iraq war. This is patently false; neither of those governments has any involvement in Al Qaeda terrorism whatsoever. They are anti-Al Qaeda, and Syria in particular has in some ways done more to stop Al Qaeda than the United States.

The thing is, every single person who does speak besides Bin Ladenites themselves condemns terrorism. Scour the websites of the major Muslim organizations. They all condemn terrorism; every single one. So you don’t need a “Pope of Islam” to see this point…there aren’t any Muslims besides the terrorists themselves who condone it.

Where is the dancing when the WTC towers fell? Huh? I knew people who were in the middle east at the time…they heard nothing but sympathy and shock at what had happened.

Calls for the execution of the Pope are no different from calls to use nuclear weapons on Mecca (which is something even a Priest did on this forum.)

The thing is Pro, Americans aren’t dancing in the streets when Gang members kill innocents.

More than the United States. Can you show me this?
Thanks.

Websites may condone it but there has not been too many Muslim leaders speaking out against it. I am sure if one did the left wing media would be all over it to make George Bush look bad.

I’m sorry, but this is false. Go searching and I guarantee you will not be able to find any major Islamic leader who has not issued a statement condemning terrorism. Not one.
Here are some links:
Ah yes, consider the source. Littlegreenfootballs publishes more anti-Muslim trash than Jihadwatch. Jperspective…is a blog entry on “friends of Israel”, not a news report and it doesn’t even have a photo.

The Google link you posted doesn’t take you to any major media or otherwise credible sources.

If you’ve got some credible links from sites other than propaganda blogs, I’d sure like to see them. But I knew Americans living in the Gulf on that very day, and they uniformly reported that people approached them in the street to say how sorry they were to see the news and how outrageous the attack was.

Not true Muslims? But there were Muslims rejoicing.

Pro, regardless of the bias it did happen. I can get you credible sources if you’d like. What do you consider credible? The BBC, CNN, Fox news, Al franken?**

Here’s the evidence you asked for regarding Syria:

newyorker.com/fact/content/articles/030728fa_fact
Syria also provided the United States with intelligence about future Al Qaeda plans. In one instance, the Syrians learned that Al Qaeda had penetrated the security services of Bahrain and had arranged for a glider loaded with explosives to be flown into a building at the U.S. Navy’s 5th Fleet headquarters there. Flynt Leverett, a former C.I.A. analyst who served until early this year on the National Security Council and is now a fellow at the Saban Center at the Brookings Institution, told me that Syria’s help “let us thwart an operation that, if carried out, would have killed a lot of Americans.” The Syrians also helped the United States avert a suspected plot against an American target in Ottawa.

I very much would like. Let’s see the credible sources. Post them.

Pro,
Does this article say that Syria has done more to thwart Al-Queda attacks more than America as you stated? Is this true?

God bless,
Jonfan
The article gives the evidence regarding what Syria did. The conclusion is my own, that in many respects, Syria did more than the US to stop Al Qaeda.

This is because Syria actually penetrated the Al Qaeda network with spies, and then kept the information to be fed to the US in order to destroy the network. The US never accomplished this. That’s certainly one area where Syria did more than the US to stop Al Qaeda.

Oh So it was a conclusion of your own. You should state that next time. :tiphat:

Well, it was my writing. That’s usually a good sign that it’s my conclusion.

Where’s the credible evidence on 9/11 celebrations?

jonfan,

Youtube is a credible source? huh?

I’d like to see a credible source, not a youtube posting.

Edit: Ah, I see…a CNN video with about ten people dancing in the streets. Not only is this a small number of people (most are just standing on a sidewalk not saying anything), the video itself is of dubious origin

If you look at the wiki article on this same video, you get:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celebrations_of_the_September_11,_2001_attacks

Note that there are no signs or indicators to explain what the woman and the few small kids are dancing about.

Its the existence of groups like these that make me question all humanity being on the same level of intelligence.

I am sorry I did not know you viewed CNN as an unreliable source. Anyway Pro I gave you the evidence. There were more than “10”. I expected a little more honesty out of you. I am not saying all Muslims are like this. But there were celebrations. This is from the same wikipedia article:

On the day of the attacks, Times Newspapers LTD. (British) reported that 3,000 celebrants were pouring into the streets of Nablus and dozens of people were celebrating in Arab East Jerusalem. [4]

Moderate Palestinians and the Palestinian leadership quickly distanced themselves from any celebrations. The Palestinian Authority recognized the matter as a public-relations nightmare and moved quickly to censor further reports of public celebrations. Ahmed Abdel Rahman, Arafat’s Cabinet secretary, said the Palestinian Authority could not “guarantee the life” of an Associated Press cameraman if footage he filmed of post-9/11 celebrations was broadcast.

Once again I am not saying all Muslims are like this. There are many however who were happy with the attacks.

Sorry, but this is by no means evidence of widespread celebration.

By your standard, “many Christians” celebrate the deaths of GI’s in Iraq and September 11th too, since the Westboro baptist Church is always out there protesting.

You posted a video with less than ten people dancing. It is a video whose authenticity is dubious. Then you claimed “many were happy with the attacks.”

Your evidence, plain and simple, does not support your conclusion.

It’s authenticity is dubious? LOL. Pro your reasoning of relativism is dubious! Palestine had a PR nightmare. There were reports of 100’s of folks celebrating this and handing out candies in that video saying they were sweets from Osama Bin laden.

First of all I don’t judge all Muslims by the acts of terrorist. I realize that most Muslims are decent people. I just wanted to make that clear at the beginning.

I, also, know that there are extremist within Christianity-Westboro Baptist, for example- that will twist bible verse to support their own agenda of hatred. These organizations do not represent our religion and are indeed a very sad sickness.

The difference between modern Muslims and Christians seems to be that Christians are more vocal in condemning hate filled groups. Muslim moderates appear to remain silent, not voicing their disgust with their own extremists. Is there a reason for this?

Reread the article. There are links to two separate journalist pieces that show someone in the full video urging people on, and that show the woman saying she had no idea what she was supposed to be happy for, but was given some cake to celebrate.

See above. That was some guy talking; was there video of any of this? Of course not.

There are, however, hundreds of videos that show many more people holding signs that say “God hates…” at soldiers’ funerals. So I guess, in your opinion, “many Christians hate America.”
