Alright, so I’m currently talking to a racist Christian.
He’s giving me all this **** for simply asking questions about why he believes God says racism is okay (he’s reading the King James Version). He’s giving me verses from the Bible, like
“For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God: the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.” Deuteronomy 7:6

Me: it doesn’t load
yahs_christian_soldier: sucks to be you. You’re ignorant of Scriptire, you make asinine statements and you don’t even have cable
Me: cable has nothing to do with one’s belief
yahs_christian_soldier: I disagree. A major reason people are so ignorant today is because they watch too much Sponge Bob
me: uh, little kids watch spongebob.
yahs_christian_soldier: 😉
me: what does cable have to do with religion?

And he’s avoiding most of my questions. I don’t see how somebody can be Christian, and also be racist. Help?

I can’t answer the Scripture for you but I can tell you that you’re talking to a contradictory-Christian!

Racism is NO PLACE for ANY Christian. I would like to have that dude talk to my face and call me racist names!

He was even saying that Jesus was *never * a Jew. I always thought he was (this guy is even sinking low enough to call me dumb over one typo I made).

yahs_christian_soldier: just like Ku Klux is spelled “klu klux”
yahs_christian_soldier: if you fail to see the correlation, there’s no helping you.
me: oh a simple typo, my dear
yahs_christian_soldier: maybe, or maybe you’re just dumb. The latter sounds more reasonable.
me: haha, you’ve made some typos as well. i could say the same to you but i don’t think i’d want to sink to your level and throw childish retorts.
yahs_christian_soldier: how witty. I think I like you now.
me: and my heart races with joy.
yahs_christian_soldier: you’d have to grow a few more brain cells of course, but with some time and effort, you could be a tip top shape

Interesting. I recently dated one also- devout Catholic and yet verbally racist. Stomach turning. I don’t get it - the two just don’t mix.

I don’t get it either.
He’s just continuously making dumb, outrageous comments about it and avoiding my questions with other questions, and saying “brb” all the time.
I can’t even tell if he’s being serious, or joking around now.

I haven’t read the Bible much, but I know there isn’t anything in the Bible that says racism is alright.

But, that is about jews thou. So unless he is jewish I don’t see how he could use that. Second, Didn’t God through Jesus add us to him that we may all be speciel (I recall scripture talking about how a person celbrates finding a coin or a lost sheep and how heaven rejoices over one repentful sinner). So I would figure that at the time to moses that God looked over the jews in a special way but, that didn’t make them superior (look how many times they turned away from God and screwed up). 'Coarse through Jesus didn’t he bring us all in the fold making Mankind the superior “Race”.

Though us ethnic Germans are the best. LOL.

That’s funny. Who does he think the verse is referring to, Europeans? If he uses that verse as a justification for racism, then the Hebrews are superior to everyone else. And why not? After all, there will be 144,000 saved, 12,000 from each tribe of Israel.

Just kidding about that last part, of course. But seriously, the man shows a pathetic ignorance of scripture. They determined that gentiles and jews were equal in the NT. It’s one of the most frequent topics of the epistles.

Actually he just sounds like an ordinary jerk who’s getting his jollies rattling your (and anyone else who’ll listen) cage. The anonymity of the internet make’s any trash-talking coward a big man.

It is patently obvious there is nothing you can say to this coward to influence him one iota. I suggest you find better things you do with your time.

Paris Blues: Well he says he’s Christian but I’m getting doubts that he is otherwise. He pretty much said I won’t be accepted into Heaven just because I have an Anton LeVay quote in my Yahoo profile.

Fidelis: Sounds about right. 😃

I may be incorrect, but over the past several months I have concluded that young and new or renewed Catholics in their enthusiasm(which is not bad to have) and maybe a little bruised pride tend to want to take on some of the most recalcitrant, bad mouthed non-catholics and to prove them wrong. I am long in the tooth and tired and accept Jesus’ advice to his disciples when they come into a place where no one accepts the gospel message, leave that place and shake the dust off you feet. There are enough good non-catholics out there that will hear your spiel for the Lord and be grateful. Why waste your time on ingrates and racist ones at that?

well granted if they don’t want to listen to sake of the dust of from you shoes but, shouldn’t we at least try first to correct them. And them being ingrates and racist, I wouldn’t think, make them deaf to what we have to say. Though admittadly there is a rather large correlation between racism and not listening but, I think it is just that a correlation and not a cause-and-effect thing.
But, I would figure agian that with Jesus’ advice that we would have to go to the place (and preach) before we could dust our shoes off at the place (of course I may just be young and naive which you can feel to correct me then).

Meh, he’s not even answering anymore.
great, when they are quite is the time that I find it is the easest to talk. So be quick before he starts agian 😛 .

I am just saying if you have preached or corrected and they respond negatively, especially to the point of being nasty, why waste your talent? You have planted a seed and it may grow later when someone else waters it. 🙂
