Martin,

From talking with folks who had the original ones is how I found out that there were five volumes. Now I wonder if they have been consolited into the three. Could be.

I think what you are doing is an excellent idea. You can add to it, since you want to put it on CD. You could add some works that realte to the books. Maybe some material that they refer too. And yes, this maybe older material, but if we don’t teach the faith from the roots up, we will never know some of the truth that has been lost. They are still excellent resource material. Not somthing that is used everyday, but definately something to refer too. Also, there are many who remember them from being younger who would like a set just for that reason.

the bottom line, GOD HAS GIVEN YOU A DESIRE TO ACCOMPLISH THIS WORK. YOU HAVE THE ABILTIY TO DO IT. TRULY, YOU HAVE NO IDEA OF HOW PEOPLE WILL BE AFFECTED BY WHAT YOU DO. IT IS BETTER TO COMPLETE THE DESIRE GOD HAS PLACED ON YOUR HEART, THAN NOT TO! so go for it.

To all apologists (amature or otherwise):

I’m thinking about typing out/scanning all three volumes of “Radio Replies” by Frs Rumble and Carty, into a searchable database. Do you think that would be helpful? Would you buy it on CD/DVD if it was a reasonable price? Would you use it if it was online?

Martin

Bless your heart!

It was indeed, the full set of “Radio Replies” (long lost) that got me on the path to conversion to Holy Mother Church!

If you can do it legally, and especially on CD, I would purchase it in a heart beat!

But consider doing it on DVD! That way, much updated commentary could then be included!

God bless,

I could put it online. Put up SQL server and have some kind of front end.
I would like that, especially if you had a seach engine for the material in Radio Replies.

New Advent’s *Catholic Encypedia * is the model to follow. The site works well on a dial up modem, it has a search engine for finding stuff, and the individual articles are hyperlinked.

A CD of the Encyclopedia is also avaible from New Advent.

Hmmm… :hmmm:

That’s an idea. Assuming it’s legal, I could propose the New Advent people since they produce a CD-ROM. Maybe they could add it online and put it on their encyclopedia CD-ROM.

matt,

what you said about OCR technology explains where there are some spelling typo’s on the new advent web site.

I have noticed some of those typos. I own an original set of this Encyclopedia so I can always check what is on the web against the original. New Advent needs a place where people can send e-mails with corrections. In time, the errors would be eliminated.
