Rahab is, if I remember correctly, the woman innkeeper (or “harlot”) who helps Israel at Jericho. She lives in Jericho and receives the spies. Maybe she was actually a prostitute. What she was sometime, it matters not to me. Rahab famously lets down the cord from her window.
At the end of 2 Corinthians 11, Paul comes to a climax by saying “through a window in a basket was I let down by the wall,” to escape, at Damascus. Why such a big deal about this, that it is the climax. Also see verse 31: "The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ … "
I think that Paul is saying, look, Rahab at Jericho was a type of me. Rahab comes over from Jericho and the occupied land of promise, Paul comes over from the Synagogue. Rahab is key in Israel’s beginning to take the land, Paul similarly for the Church.
I haven’t expressed this well, but perhaps the point can be seen. Also I need to revisit the story of Rahab. But I’ve had this idea for a long time.
