Each day I stayed at the hotel last year, a lady met each guest with a cup of tea and dates after dusk.
If you can’t drink water, you can’t brush teeth.

Ramadan mubaraak to all believers,

In Australia Allah has blessed us that the moon was clearly visible last night.

I cant speak for Muslims of the Islamic religion about teeth brushing, but best i understand.

It is narrated some thing like Allah likes the breath of a fasting man.

What you say about swallowing water is very real but maybe not the reason given before prayer washing of the mouth can be done with care not to swallow.

Mohammad (pbuh) as i am told would take a stick, de-bark and splay the end for cleaning teeth. It is very different to today with plastic brush and lots of water.

Maybe it is best to clean your teeth soon after eating and before before beginning the fast, when you clean your teeth food could be swallowed.

Of course Allah makes fasting easy for His, so if one errors with or without intent, there are still ways to correct this.

I don’t know why Muslims can’t brush their teeth during Ramadan. To keep their mouth fresh and to fight hunger, they chew on a desert brush from Sudan. They brush their teeth with it as well.

It was the same here growing up.

After the end of their holiday we would give our Muslim friend’s children little gifts as well and home made sweets. And at christmas they gave us little gifts and wished us a merry Christmas.

I have fond memories of those times.

It is always better when people can get along.

do you mean in Ramadan or in the other months?

Thats surprising in comparison to my experience but i guess no surprise given the diversity around the globe.
Not as a challenge you but to widen my view is this your observation or is there some where i can read more?

Thank you for the blessing! Yes, it was from my observation. Having spent two years in the heart of Islam, I have seen and read everything about Islam. The chewing that brush is a practice of the Gulf Arabs. I’ve not seen it anywhere else.

I work in the Gulf, and have not seen anybody chewing on a brush. Of course this will only be my second year. I arrived during Ramadan last year, and I return next week. It might also be because I am working in the city. Ramadan is hard on those who continue to work outdoors in the heat.

well, for me personally after I knew Jesus, my food is completely changed I now follow His quote in (Matthew 4:4), however, for main Muslims here in SA, here are some of the dishes they eat regularly during Ramadan (again that also differs per nationality):

Main dishes:

Actually there are fatwas that allows them to use toothbrushes but most of those fatwas recommend using Miswak (aka: tooth-stick) instead, per this hadith:

**Sunan Abu-Dawud, Book 1, Number 0047: **
I heard the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) say: Were it not hard on my ummah, I would order them to use the tooth-stick at the time of every prayer. AbuSalamah said: Zayd ibn Khalid used to attend the prayers in the mosque with his tooth-stick on his ear where a clerk carries a pen, and whenever he got up for prayer he used it.
سنن أبي داود:
سمعت رسول الله ‏ ‏صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏ ‏يقول ‏ ‏لولا أن أشق على أمتي لأمرتهم بالسواك عند كل صلاة ‏

ok. ill respect their holiday, when they start respecting yom kippur, and christmas. this will include ceasing attacks against Jews on their most holy day, and attempting to hijack and kill christians on christmas. is this fair? Peace 🙂

I return to the Persian Gulf during Ramadan. Everybody, Muslim and otherwise, is expected to maintain the public fast. The hardest day is Saturday as I maintain my own fast through the hour before Mass.
The fast from Dawn to Dusk includes no water even though the weather is hot.

yes most are respectful, but we have been getting more mortars lately. and im not going to respect the fast. im not muslim. and your not kidding. it does get hot! 120 to 130 where im at. i hear in some parts it can get up to 150 degrees. kuwait comes to mind. the only way to compare it is to put a fan in an oven, and stick your head in it. good times. lol! Well, my amigo, free speech protects us from the Government, not a private forum on the internet. Go brush up on the constitution. The administrator can hypothetically ban you forever and you can’t do anything about it.
