You are comparing the Quran to Mein Kampf? How would you feel if someone did the same with the bible?
The Koran is closer to Mein Kampf than the Bible - it’s about Islam dominating the world, and hating Jews (and Christians)

If someone compared it to the Bible, they’d have to attempt to find parallels, one would think.
Clearly you need to learn the lesson of respect from the Pope’s example.
Clearly you need to construct an argument based on more than your own sense of indignation.

lol
I doubt if Lily will mention if she is going to fast ever again on these forums!
Fasting is not of itself a good thing. It’s the reasons why we fast that are good or bad.

Nothing is good without God.

I would hope that Lily M would continue to remind us all to fast (for God) when she does so.

We Christians need good examples.

Well in this case, i think she got a bit of feedback that might cause her to not post about fasting anymore.
Im more than positive everytime she does fast, its for God.

This would be because of my reaction - which was based on only the information conveyed in her first post.

Perhaps you know this person and are better able to fill in the gaps.

I still would hope Lily M and others advocate fasting (for God).

cant say i know her personally, but ive read many of her replies, information etc, she seems like a good person and does things in the name of God.

And will you fast for Great Lent?
Naah, I think I’ll just stick to Ramadan thanks  😃

Of course I do a Lenten fast (not quite following Eastern Catholic or Eastern Orthodox principles, however, but more than most of my fellow Latins do) and sometimes (though not always, to my shame) on Fridays outside of Lent though this isn’t strictly required.

Thanks for leaping to my defence there dolphin … my hero!

Where are you going in Europe? I’d love to go again and may get a chance to go next year, but it’s not looking likely 😦

I think the comparison of the koran and mein kampf is not applicable. The koran and muslims have caused far more murder and destruction throughout the ages than hitler ever did.

Two examples are the hindu genocide where 65 million hindus were murdered while parts of india were under muslim rule. Another example is the Armenian genocide where 1.5 million chrisitians were murdered by our peace loving muslim brothers in Turkey. Hitler actually used the Armenian genocide to reason that people will not stop him in murdering the jews. Hitler said “Our strength lies in our intensive attacks and out barbarity…After all, who today remembers the genocide of the Armenians”

Islam and Nazism are two sides of the same coin: Evil.

Indeed there are of course differences.

Such as to the Nazis, you could never ‘convert’ from being a Jew - because for them it was a matter of birth… whereas in Islam you can convert.

I guess the fact that Hitler reigned for a few years and Islam for over 12 centuries doesn’t really count for much, does it?

Oh, we do remember, all the hideous tortures and slayings of humankind, everywhere, ancient and recent. Theist, nontheist, regardless of religion and politics…we who have minds and ears…we hear and remember.

But in this time of remembrance and respect…let us all forgive and love, even if we can’t forget. It is hard, isn’t it?

Yes… as God says in the Qur’an:

God commands you to return to their owners the things you hold on trust and, when you judge between people, to judge with justice. How excellent is what God exhorts you to do! God is All-Hearing, All-Seeing. (Surat an-Nisa : 58)

You who believe! Be upholders of justice, bearing witness for God alone, even against yourselves or your parents and relatives. Whether they are rich or poor, God is well able to look after them. Do not follow your own desires and deviate from the truth. If you twist or turn away, God is aware of what you do. (Surat an-Nisa: 135)

God does not forbid you from being good to those who have not fought you in the religion or driven you from your homes, or from being just towards them. God loves those who are just. (Surat al-Mumtahana: 8)

Unfortunately the Crusades against Islamo-Fascism didn’t get under way until some centuries later

Your just upset they got rid of your fan thread… 😛

Oh, can’t they have one, for the holidays? Really now, what harm? The entire thing is about loving and forgiveness, atonement and charity.

I am no more a Muslim than I am a Christian or a Jew or a Buddhist or a Hindu…but I know a good thing when I see it. If this is what promotes humankindness, then yaaaay, Ramadan/September/Whatever!

We Gothy lots will be seeing ya next month! Mwahaha, and I mean that with all charity and love! 😉

All days are sacred, to those of you who acknowledge sacredness, aren’t they? Then, in that spirit, love thy neighbor, love that man and love that woman…I could go on, but you know what’s right, so do that thing…aw I could bust out in song right now.
