:banghead:Let me go on for a bit. Don’t really expect a response, but I am in a mood that I have to write something down.

Elton John, for crying out loud…

On a completely separate note. I am in a very frustrating time at work. There has been a “merger of equals” that is nothing of the sort in reality. Before the merger, it was too much responsibility, now it is one fire alarm after another and then we need to make time to put in a new software.

Is it a lesson in humility? Had plenty of that the last few years. Probably doesn’t end.
I used to be in tune with what was going on to some degree and now I have nothing.

No pay increases more work, being moved from an office to cube world with bad parking. Benefits are being reduced. What next.

SO, I know in my head that I am just one of a millions of people that feel this way and probably billions that feel worse, but I can’t help but feel sorry for myself.

I thought by writing it down, I would see how silly it is, but actually it seems to be making it worse.

What does it mean to be open to God’s love. I can’t figure it out. I try prayer, but it feels so contrived and meaningless. I know I am doing too much talking, but I don’t know what I am listening for.

All the fluffy talk is really getting to me, I need some concrete guidance.

Thanks for letting me rant.:banghead:

Just a few things that come to mind:

–Praise God that you have a job.

–During this Lent unite your sufferings to Christ

–Sounds cliche, but offer it up

–Remember that there is 8-10% of the country that would like to have your problem versus wondering where the $ for food is coming from

–Pray

Maybe something on this thread will help…

‘how to listen during praying?’

I really connected with this statement of yours: “I know I am doing too much talking, but I don’t know what I am listening for.”

Father’s advice to me - talk less, listen more. Easier said than done, but getting easier!

Try writing a list of the positives in your life.

Serenity Prayer

*God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.
*
God bless.

When listening to the Christian music channel The Message, I often hear mini-commercial. A lady is beeping her horn stuck in a traffic jam. It talks about the tough economic times. At the end is just 3 simple words: “Count your blessings”.

It’s not easy, but sometimes when the world is crumbling around us, we should just taking a minute to look at all the good things we have been blessed with; foremost among them is life itself.

Sometimes we just need to take a minute maybe before we go to bed and say “Lord, I need your help with this and that in my life. And Lord, thank you for the good things in my life like that and this”.

Hi Dottiepo,

Yeah I still feel a bit like this; have felt that way for a long time. But I did get a little perspective from a wee-hours-of-the-morning reflection on God, involving the sorrowful mysteries. In reality, I am the one who should be sweating blood in the garden, awaiting the imminent judgement of God. I deserve to be flogged by God for the thousands of times that I, his created being, turned my back on him. I deserve to have him put a parody crown on my head and have him mock me about how I thought I was the king, the director of my own life, in spite of my absolute dependence on him. And the sentence for all my sins is death, death on a cross that even he had to make himself out of a tree he had to create, so the least I should have to do is carry it myself. And his final just act for my sinful nature is for him to nail my hands and feet to this cross – hands that I have sinned with, feet that took me places I shouldn’t have gone and certainly did not go places to glorify his name – so that I, his pitiful, repulsive creation, the product of my own disordered free will, can offend him finally no more. I deserve to die like this, at his hands, in my shame and prideful unrepentance.

And then, just then, his son steps in and takes my place.

'Nuff said.

Hey,

There was a person here today who said she wished she had never been born. She has struggles, big ones. Please think of her pray for her, and maybe all this will seem less of a hassle.

I lay down in the snow sometimes to just unclutter all the junk floating around in my head now. It appears weird to anyone who sees it, but I could care less. It helps me. Find out what helps you. I even ate fish today in a gesture to show to myself my greatfulness for the christian friends I have made here that have been really helpful in pointing out things I don’t catch on to that well.

Hope you will get this thing out of your system.

Thanks for reminding me that I am not alone in frustration. It’s perfectly normal.

I realize that, and I am sure he does, but forgive me for admitting that sounds a bit like your mom telling you to stuff yourself after you have had your fill because of “the starving kids in China”

Yes, atheist mothers do that to their kids also.

No just responding to his request on something concrete. and no fluff and yep… thats exactly what my momma told me, but I was to stuff myself only because she served the plate not me… and I guess that mothers are the one’s with the problems here, respectively I was not trying to allow you correct my post but, I was just posting a thought such as you. to realize this strawberry my response was for dottie.

Very good advice indeed… find your “whatever it is” to blow that steam out of you. Yep, always pray, but sometimes it still doesn’t give you that release.
And do count your blessings at night when you say your prayers, it really really does help. Even if they sound trivial and stupid when your offering up your thanks, it helps and I’m more than sure God likes to hear it too 😉
Hang in there… remember… And this too shall pass…🙂
