Rapture of Protestants vs. Assumption of Mary

Could someone please explain why the Assumption of Mary, the holy Mother of God, is so objectionable to Protestants when they are so sure they will leave their own car emptied and idling when they are raptured? It seems irrational to me to reject the Assumption, sometimes with venom, and yet expect Catholics to take rapture theory seriously.
Are Protestants some how more deserving of rapture than Christ’s own mother?
