Rapture...please explain

Hello!
I need help on understanding the rapture as we Catholics see it and as a protestant sees it.
Thank you!!
 
I believe that the Catholic Church holds an Amillennial position.

The articles above are good. Carl Olsen’s book called Will Catholics Be Left Behind is an excellent book that goes into great detail. As for a short answer from a former Baptist who used to teach it, we Catholics do believe it, but we believe it is the second coming of Christ at the end of time. We don’t call it the rapture, but techiqually that is what being caught up to meet Jesus in the clouds means. But those who teach a different rapture usually teach that the rapture happens right before the time of the Antichrist, and the only ones who get raptured are those who are “saved”. They believe that those who are saved will not have to endure the time of the Antichrist.

Under this pre-trib thought, is it possible for those “left behind” to be saved?
 
If I remember correctly, yes. I grew up Baptist, and they once had a series of movies, the first was called, “A thief in the night.” I don’t think it was shown in theaters, just in churches. I remember seeing them, I can’t remember how many. But the basic idea was that some would be saved. But they would be persecuted all the more for it.

Yes, many of those who teach it believe that there will be a lot of people turn to God. But the most of them believe that those “saved” prior to the rapture will all be raptured. I follow the thought of many Medieval Catholic commentators that during the Great Tribulation there will be a lot of people convert to the Church. Often heavy persecution seems to bring more people to God than times of little persecution. As Tertullian once said to the Romans, “Every time you mow us down our numbers increase, the blood of Christians is the seed.”
