For those who believe in the Rapture, can you please explain why you believe this, as well as where to find it in Scripture?

It’s apparent from Scripture:

For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. (1 Thes. 4:16-17)

But that could easily (and does mean, for that matter) the Second Coming. Where does Jesus say that he would arrive twice? I never knew there was a 1 and 1/2 Coming…

As much as I am aware of, this scripture verse says nothing of Christ coming down to pick up people who haven’t died yet from a tribulation, and then coming back again to save the rest of the people. It says that the dead in Christ will rise first, then those who remain alive will meet Christ and we will remain with Christ. This obviously refers to the Second Coming. How does this relate to the Rapture?

The rapture is the “catching up” that Paul was describing. It is at the second coming; there are no 1 ½ comings. You are describing (I think) the theology of pre-tribulation rapture. Is that what you want to discuss?

How do you know that 1 Thes. 4:16-17 is a different event from Matt. 24:19-31, 2 Thes. 2:1-8 and 1 Cor. 15:51-52?
 
When I speak of the Rapture, I do not refer to the Second Coming. I would have used that term if I was speaking of it. When I speak of the Rapture, I speak of the idea that either before, in the middle of, or after the supposed “tribulation” that is often warned in certain sermons, that people will suddenly be “snatched up” by Christ, the “True Believers”. This is what I wish to discuss.
 
The rapture topic came up between my spouse (a Catholic) and a friend (Methodist). I noticed that on John Salza’s ScriptureCatholic.com he explains some viewpoints as well as what is consistent with Scripture and Catholic teachings regarding the “rapture”. He gives Bible references, chronology and other info. you might/might not already know. - Just a suggestion.

I am asking you a question. I quoted you as asserting that 1 Thes. 4:16-17 refers to a rapture. I am asking you if these other verses refer to the same event or not.
 
When I was a protestant I was obsessed with the rapture. I read the Left Behind series and studied everything I could find regarding the topic.

Once I became a Catholic I realized I wasted my time. If you want to really know about it read

The Rapture:Who will face Tribulation by Tim Lahaye

He lists all biblical “evidence” he thinks supports the Rapture theory. It is all based on interpretation of scripture and as we all know, taken out of context, scripture can be interpreted to say what want it to say.

Now I just worry about the state of my soul and my relationship with God. Who knows when our “end time” will come. People can die at any moment so why worry about it!

LOL. Where did I assert that 1 Thes. 4:16-17 refers to a pre-tribulation rapture?

Thank you for whittling that down to a question that doesn’t seem to assume what I believe…or assert something I didn’t say.

It seems to me that all those references refer to the rapture.

When most people hear the word “Rapture” they think of Tim LaHaye’s version of it, that will occur before the tribulation. But I see that you agree with me that all of the Scriptures I mentioned indicate that the rapture will occur after the tribulation.

Oh come on now. If the rapture were to really happy like it says in the bible, how could somebody deny god? If half the people on earth just dissapeared? You’d be an idiot not to believe in the supernatural that happened. Could you imagine how many cars would crash and how many planes would fall if half the world just dissapeared? It would be insane, and there would be no way to deny the supernatural if that were to happen.

Right…except for one problem. The Rapture is not in the bible.
