Does lack of belief in a rapture preclude one from it if it happens?

If a tree falls in a forest and no one is there to hear it, did it make a sound?

I am a very conservative Catholic who has studied the rapture and find it hard to believe there wouldn’t be one. I don’t know how the antichrist would rule effectively with all us radicals around.

Anyway, if you don’t believe there will be a rapture please read a recently translated text by Ephraem the Syrian. If you do a search read the James Gang. Ephraem was a Catholic. What he tells us is far different than we we read in the Left Behind series. First of all it is very clear from the Bible that the antichrist will come from the Iran, Iraq, Syria area which had made up the Secludian empire after being divided by Alexander the Great. Also we will not be initially rescued from wrath from confusion.Read the book of Matthew the 24th chapter. Jesus himself says, "See I have told you ahead of time.

Whether you believe in the Rapture will have nothing to do with your salvation. Here is what is important. You must testify that jesus is God in the flesh. You should be baptized. You should understand the importance of the Eucharist. The word believe from the Greek means total belief not mere acknowledgement.

No. It makes vibrations. It takes an ear and a brain to hear a sound.
belief in things don’t determine if they will happen or not happen. If you don’t believe in the rapture but there is one it will still happen. If you don’t believe in hell and there is one you are still in danger of going there. If you don’t believe in rain, you will still get wet if you are outside when it rains. When trees fall there is still a reaction (Vibrations, breaking things it lands on, etc.) to it even if you don’t hear it.

I think that in some denominations, the Rapture is treated with the same level of importance as the Incarnation: you must accept it to be “Christian.” Overall, though, it seems like it is one of the “non-essential” doctrines…unless you are selling books…

I think you misread my question.

This is an answer I was looking for. Thanks very much.

According to what I’ve read there are four different beliefs on the rapture… before the tirbulation begins, midway through the tribulation, after the tribulation, or a combination of the three. I think that after the tribulation makes sense. what do you guys think?

I do not believe in it at all. Very shocking to my friends. But they said too bad, when it happens I am going anyway, no matter if I believe in it or not! LOL

I figure if it does exist and happens it will be an extra bonus.

Saw a bumper sticker years ago…

I’m Catholic. When my neighbor gets raptured, I’m taking his Mercedes.

😃

Actually, I like Fr. Corapi’s take on it: “I don’t know about THE end, but I know MY end is coming soon.”

Light Seeker,

I like your response. That idea about the rapture sure is strange. . .

I think so too. But a buddy of mine is a deacon in a church which believes in the rapture. One night not long ago I was poking some good natured fun at the concept.

In retaliation, he started poking fun at purgatory, he thinks that’s pretty strange too.

We agreed to disagree, poured ourselves another shot. 😛

That’s like asking “Does the belief in the dryness of water keep you from getting drenched if you fall into it?”

There is no pre-trib rapture. Period.

Those who are waiting for it will be among the first to fall down and worship Antichrist when he comes.

I think you misread my question.

honestly I don’t care if its pre mid post tribulation or whatever. We know Jesus will return. I await His return. It will be beyond my imagination anyhow. I meant before, that I don’t think Its a matter that determines salvation but simply a matter of something that will happen regardless of what you (or anyone) think.

For generations Jews awaited Jesus first arrival… and it was not what they expected. I figure the second will follow that trend… like a thief in the night. I don’t know the day or the hour or the position of it in relation to the Tribulation on a time line. I don’t need to know. I need only to be ready.

My pastor preached on it two weeks ago, He believes in a pre-Trib rapture. A lady raised her hand and when he acknowledged her she said “Pastor, I disagree with you!” and he said “Well, thats alright.” I guess they agree with me. 😉

Excellent 👍

I do not believe in the Rapture as a Catholic. But what do Catholics believe actually happens? I know we just go by Revelation, correct?

More or less. Understand that there is nothing wrong with the rapture if it is understood to occure only at the instant when Christ returns. At that time, all who are still alive will be taken up with those who have already died to be judged.

Where the Rapture runs afoul of scripture is when it teaches that the church will be taken before the Tribulations or Jesus will do a half-return to take us back.
