Hello everyone!

I and my partner have been atheists all our lives but have, over a period of time, come to Christ. We wish to enter into the RCIA, but here is the contention.

My partner is divorced. She was married for 5 years but her husband was abusive. She has two children from this previous marriage. I wish to marry her but I want to do so after we are received into the church. Will there be problems going into RCIA and marrying?

Thank you in advance for any help.

speak with your local priest parish of your situation.
your situation: if you wishe to stay in the rules of the Church, you should live in abstinence outside of marriage.

if you whishe to marry your partner need to be able to married. Speak of her marriage, it might be valid or invalid. this might be investigated by an ecclesiastical tribunal.

It’s great that you and your partner are interested in joining the Church.

The two of you should make an appointment and speak to your priest about the marital situation. He should be able to best advise you on what you might need to do, or refer you to other Diocesan resources if, for example, your partner needs to seek an annulment of her previous marriage.
