Hello:
I am currently in the RCIA program in our Church and as we approach Easter Baptism, I am finding it ever more difficult to keep my Lenten commitments. Beyond that, I seem to be tempted in more areas everyday. I have spoken with other Catechumens and Candidates in the program and, to an individual; they are all experiencing the same thing. I am praying quite a lot, and God is giving me the strength to resist, but everything tends toward intensification.
For example, mentally, I am conscious of increasing tendencies toward breaking many of the Ten Commandments. So far I am able to block these thoughts; however, this is becoming a daily occurrence.
I do a short morning prayer of adoration, pray the rosary, and pray interiorly all of which seem to help. However, it seems the more that I pray, the more temptations are presented. Is this normal for people going through the RCIA program?
Thanks for your help and God Bless,
tmac

Sometimes the devil works harder on us when he sees progress in the faith.

Keep the faith!

I’ll be praying for you all…

Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory Be…

Not just for people going through the RCIA program, it is normal for all who answer God’s call. Satan doesn’t rest; and neither can we.

yes the rite acknowledges that this is common, and the scrutinies and other prayers and blessings of lent are, among other things, designed to strengthen the elect against these temptations. be frank about this with the priest who is guiding you and with your RCIA catechists. they should be speaking about this and arming you for this final struggle. If they have not already told you, this final lenten preparation needs to be your top priority now.
