RCIA attendance

Hi all,

I just got a new job (see my celebratory thread!) and am looking forward to it!

The thing is, I had planned to start with an RCIA class that meets on Thurs pm, and now I’ll be working then.

1. Do churches ever do one-on-one classes?
2. If I went to another church for RCIA then when I joined the church would it have to be that one or could it be the one I originally wanted to join?

Call the person in charge of RCIA and explain to them, they should help you find a solution.

They may have an alternate class (our Parish does a “make up” class on Sunday evenings for those who missed the Wed PM class, they pick up the DVD of Father’s class then meet with one of the RCIA team members to discuss).

They may work with you to find another Parish with a schedule that will fit into yours.

Time is drawing near, so, make that call

talk to your RCIA director now. most parishes bend over backward to accommodate all sincere seekers. if a special arrangment is made for you, please however honor your commitment to attend. this does not bind you in any way in your ultimate decision to join the church, but it is a matter of common courtesy. Can’t count the times we have made a special arrangment only to have the person fail to comply with minimum class commitments. Usually IMO this is because the support of the larger class is an essential part of the RCIA experience. you might also inquire if a neighboring parish has a class at a more convenient time like Sunday morning.

I did call Sister and I am starting RCIA this Thursday !!! HOORAY!!! SInce I have two Thursday nights free before my new job kicks in, she advised me to attend those, then they’ll set me up for one-on-ones…Cool!!!
