RCIA blog....

I’m a neophyte. I’ve been ask to start an RCIA blog.
Any suggestions on how to start one? What items should be included. Does anyone here blog or have a RCIA related site?
Any help would be great!
 
I think it would be great to blog about RCIA.

When I was looking into RCIA it was really hard to find information. So I started a blog and would share what I would find when I would find it.

I wouldn’t say my blog is mainly about RCIA, but I initially started it to talk about my experiences and share information I found. After a break in the class (not by my choice) I start back in October. I will definitely be blogging about it when I begin classes again.

I have met a few fellow bloggers who are going through, or about to go through RCIA too, so it’s nice to have the support.

If you start your blog just publish what you feel is appropriate for someone who is seeking to start RCIA or who is already in it. Once you get a feel for your blog and hopefully get a few comments from people than you can go from there. The best thing you could do with your blog is to use it as a way of giving support to those going through RCIA.

There are so many wonderful Catholic bloggers that I’m sure you’ll gain quite a following. Let me know if you start the blog, I’d love to check it out.

I start RCIA in September, and I’ve got a blog that right now I’m just using for notes and things as I work through Catholicism for Dummies. But my intent is to include notes from the RCIA classes, and sort of diary-like entries as well, about what’s going on in the conversion process. So that’s what it is, a hybrid notebook/diary, because I really want to keep a record of what happens, but I’m horrible about writing in a regular diary. So I thought I’d try it this way. I type much more often than I write. 🙂

It sounds good, Wikipedia has a great outline of the course someone from here gave me. Maybe use that as a guide…
 
I plan on starting a blog for my conversion to Catholicism…

I begin RCIA on September 10 so I will probably start one and post after class that night… I’m so excited I can’t wait…

:extrahappy: yea! I’m excited for you. And keeping a blog (or some kind of journal) about RCIA is a wonderful thing. It will be fun to go back and read it later! 👍

The good news is my journey to Catholicism may not extend to Easter Vigil, it may end and I’ll be Catholic before then… depending on the circumstances…

I’m already a baptized Christian so all I have to do is learn more of the Catholic Church, go to First Confession, be Confirmed, receive First Communion, then go from there… so we’ll see… but man it’s going to be an amazing journey!

That is exciting. I went through pretty much the same thing. I was already a baptized, practicing Christian, so I was received into the Church last November and received all my sacraments then. 👍 Good thing, waiting until then was hard enough, another couple of months would have been even worse! 😉 😃

I’m enjoying the scenery of the journey and basking in the grace of God on my way to Rome… so why rush it? I would love to be confirmed soon… but never know… God knows best… of course, the excitement does build up…

The parish where I went through RCIA has a blog. Maybe it can give you some ideas. It is here.
 
My site is not a blog of me currently going through the RCIA process, but what I learned from it. I took a traditional Joomla CMS/Blog and modified it to look more like a traditional website. It has been a lot of fun so far!

I started a social network page to help both my RCIA group and my high school faith formation classes. It is on Ning.com (used to be free, but now charges a nominal fee per month). It is here: Catholicus Maximus

You can also try blogger.com. It is free and easy to use, but does not have as many features as Ning.com

You can also create a Facebook group, however, I found that many do not like the Facebook’s security features (or lack thereof).
 
I’m currently in RCIA myself.

I have a blog (see sig at the bottom of this post).

While I don’t mention RCIA much, I do cover a lot of questions that come up in our meetings.

I find blogger very easy to use and powerful.
 
It’s easy to start a blog. You may follow prompts, or simply share reflections, thoughts and experiences you’ve gone through thus far. I blogged while in the conversion process, but admittedly, I haven’t updated it lately. Maybe I ought to! Here’s the address: a-book-of-days.blogspot.com

Lots of others shared their blogs as an example. I’d say read around, and then choose a blogging service. Many people use “Blogger”. You can get instructions on how to set up a blog with the “Blogger” service at: blogger.com
