I am leading an R.C.I.A. group and would like to provide a list of books and publications that would be helpful for new &/or returning, non-academic, Catholics. We are using Catholicism for Dummies for our text and it has been well received. I would appreciate suggestions of books that others have found helpful in coming to understand the Catholic faith. Any notes as to why a particular book has been suggested would be helpful as well.
Here is the start of my list:
Books:
The Bible (New American Bible suggested because it is the text used at Mass)
The Catechism of the Catholic Church
Confessions of St. Augustine
Imitation of Christ, Thomas a Kempis (c. 1380-1471).
Story of a Soul, The Autobiography of Saint Therese of Lisieux
The Lamb’s Supper, Scott Hahn
Deep Conversion, Deep Prayer, Thomas Dubay, S.M.
Publications:
