RCIA Class -Nice

I went to the RCIA class at the local church tonight. I was going to the class that can take two years to get through and is held at a very large church parish. I decided to try the local church because I’m a little tired driving all the way to another town. Anyway, I was expecting something boring and lame. I find the other RCIA class, at least the two or three times I’ve been to it, unfocused and tedious. They split the class up into an introductory class and then the advanced RCIA class.

So what did I think of tonights class at the local smaller parish? It was taught by the local Priest. I was pleasantly surprised! They had soft drinks and five pies waiting on us. The Priest got right into the material and was very energetic and enthusiastic. Yeah, I enjoyed the class tremendously. We went over a lot of material including some of the days Catholics are obligated to attend Mass.

I’m glad I tried this out and I’m definitely going back. I was thinking it would be just ok, but it turned out very nice. I told the Priest on the way out he did a good job and it reminded me of being in collage again.

Awesome! Priests are indeed very knowledgable because of the amount of studies that goes into becoming one. And there are those who are trully gifted in teaching. When I attend Catechism training, I always prefer the courses that has a priest teaching rather than a lay person. Not that I think lay people can’t teach, because I am one. It just that I want to tap into that wealth of knowledge a priest has.

Im glad it was such a good experience!

Remember too, that RCIA isn’t just about 'learning and becoming Catholic"; hopefully it’s about our journey with Christ.

Sometimes it can be a challenge on the teaching side of RCIA because we want people to know it’s about our journey with Christ and His Bride the Church; it’s not "just’ about His Bride

Yes, I’m glad I went. Of course the pies and soda were not the important things, but it sure was nice of them to offer that to me and the others.

That’s interesting. I’ve never heard of a 2-year RCIA class. Most RCIA programs are 1 year only.

Glad you had a good experience! On paper inquirer’s classes are a great idea, but in practice they are sadly hit or miss. Sounds like you got a hit!

As an aside, 2 years sounds nuts. It seems an unreasonable impediment they’re putting in place of would-be converts. I think most around me are about 6 months.

I am going back to RCIA to just get a better grasp at my faith after almost two years of being baptized and fully in communion with the Church.

The parish I go to and go for RCIA are taught by the parish priests (I would of put Friars, but sometimes that confuses people) and they are very knowledge and love answering questions and wish to always ask questions. I even remember one of the priest even brought those little bells that you see at hotels and he told us to ring them if we were ever confused by what he was talking about.

I am glad you found somewhere that really helps you learn about the Catholic faith. God bless on your journey ahead and know that priests love questions. Well that is what my priests tell me all the time.
