Our RCIC kids who are being baptized wear a MODEST swimsuit, with the shorts bottom and sleeved top (7-10 year range) because Father likes immersion (he will yield to pouring).
That’s good because he is REQUIRED to yield to pouring! NO ONE is required to be immersed - (and it’s particularly protestant.- used specifically by protestants to “protest” the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.)

RCIA 226 the celebrant baptizes each candidate either by immersion, option A, or by pouring, option B.

If baptism is by immersion, of the whole body or of the head only, decency and decorum should be observed.

immersion is an ancient practice of the Church.

RCIA 229 cothing with a baptismal garment. The garment used in this rite may be white or of a color that conforms to local custom. If circumstances suggest, this rite may be omitted.

the baptismal garment is usually symbolic, like a bib or stole, placed over the clothing.

.
Yes, and when the Church determined it was not necessary, the protestants used it to defy the teachings of the church.(Like communion in the hand, for example.)

Was that a quote, “immersion is an ancient practice of the Church”? from the RCIA # you quoted, or was that something you added?

(or can you provide a link for the document, please?)

Thanks,
Angel

the quotes from the document were stated next to their paragraph numbers, separate from my own comments. Do you have documentation for the allegation the immersion represents a protestant view of baptism? any of the Eastern Rite or Orthodox care to weigh in this discussion (which we are like so off topic)

As the topic of the thread appears to have completed itself, it is now closed.
