I have a copy of the Catechism of the Catholic Church Second Edition.

Good luck in RCIA, Wesley. I’m sure everyone joins me in supporting you. May your formation be sound and authenticly Catholic.

Did you have any questions?

Yea ~ can you study Vatican I and Vatican II during the course of the RCIA program?

You would need to ask your RCIA director what will be covered in the classes. There may be something about church history.

If the two councils are something you’re especially interested in you may want to find books on the topic so you can learn more on your own.

Wesley,

also, I was a “part of the RCIA team” for a few years in two different Parishes before I left the NO Parishes. It is my experience that the “curriculum” was not consistent from year to year, depending on who the “leader” was.

SuscipeMeDomine’s advice is good. You may need to study those on your own, and ask questions to those who are knowledgeable.

Also keep in mind—IF Vat I and/or Vat II are discussed in your RCIA program --what you may be told about the Councils —is dependent on the orthodoxy of the one(s) leading the RCIA program.

Yes, that’s tru.

Though, I am already reading and doing a detail(ed) study of the Catechism of the Catholic Church Second Edition.

It’s unlikely that the RCIA program will go into detail about these or the other councils due to the amount of other material to be covered. If you ask specific questions, the RCIA team members should be willing to find the answers for you.

That should occupy you for the next couple years.😃

Yea ~ do you know a preacher who can preach directly from the CCC?
If you study it and someday become a priest, you could do so.😉 Seriously, the homilies given at mass are supposed to focus on the scripture readings of the day. But the priest should have a good understanding of the CCC. Father Corapi has a series on EWTN where he does preach from the CCC and explains it well. You could go to EWTN.com and find out when it is broadcast. It may also be available on CD.
