Please pray for all those souls who have made the decision to attend RCIA in the hopes of full communion in the Catholic Church this coming Easter.

For many of them, this decision means separation from some friends and family, ostracization and difficult conversations to say the least.

I think we can take our faith for granted sometimes. In the case of these catechumens, their faith is ultimately very important to them, and they really need our prayers.

The Eastern churches, Catholic and Orthodox, take this catechism very seriously. They exorcise the catechumen candidates having them renounce Satan. So it is not only from friends and family that they will receive attacks. They need all the prayer and support the church can give them.

Same with the Latin Catholics

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Prayer for Those Entering Catholic Church

Lord, may they be welcomed
with joy and thanksgivings
into the folds of Your Holy Catholic Church.
Be their Light in times of trial and darkness;
their guide in a new life of Truth.
Provide for them, holy men and women
to support the growth of their faith.
Grant that their gifts be shared to
produce abundant fruits for Your Glory.

Amen.

O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known that any one who fled to thy protection,

to thee do I come,
before thee I stand,
sinful and sorrowful;
O Mother of thy Word Incarnate,
despise not my petitions,
but in thy clemency hear and answer me.
Amen

Teach me, my Lord,
to be sweet and gentle in all the events of life;
in disappointments, in the thoughtlessness of others,
in the insincerity of those I trusted,
in the unfaithfulness of those on whom I relied.

Let me put myself aside,
to think of the happiness of others,
to hide my little pains and heartaches, so
……that I may be the only one to suffer from them.

Teach me to profit by the suffering that comes across my path.
Let me so use it that it may mellow me,
……not harden nor embitter me; that it may make me patient, not irritable;
……that it may make me broad in my forgiveness,
……not narrow, haughty and over-bearing.

May no one be less good for having come within my influence.
No one less pure, less kind, less noble for having been a

let me whisper, from time to time, a word of love to Thee.
May my life be lived in the supernatural, full of power and good,

“O Glorious Prince of the heavenly host, St. Michael the Archangel,
defend us in the battle and in the terrible warfare that we are waging
against the principalities and powers,
against the rulers of this world of darkness,
against the evil spirits.
Come to the aid of man, whom Almighty God created immortal,
.....made in His own image and likeness,
.....and redeemed at a great price from the tyranny of Satan.

“Fight this day the battle of the Lord,
together with the holy angels, as already thou hast fought the leader of the
.....proud angels, Lucifer, and his apostate host, who were powerless
.....to resist thee, nor was there place for them any longer in Heaven.
That cruel, ancient serpent, who is called the devil or Satan who seduces
.....the whole world, was cast into the abyss with his angels.
Behold, this primeval enemy and slayer of men has taken courage.
Transformed into an angel of light, he wanders about with all the
.....multitude of wicked spirits, invading the earth in order
.....to blot out the name of God and of His Christ,
.....to seize upon, slay and cast into eternal perdition souls destined
.....for the crown of eternal glory.
This wicked dragon pours out, as a most impure flood,
the venom of his malice on men of depraved mind and corrupt heart,
the spirit of lying, of impiety, of blasphemy, and the pestilent breath of impurity,
.....and of every vice and iniquity.

“These most crafty enemies have filled and inebriated with gall and bitterness
.....the Church, the spouse of the immaculate Lamb,
.....and have laid impious hands on her most sacred possessions.
In the Holy Place itself, where the See of Holy Peter and the Chair of Truth has
.....been set up as the light of the world,
.....they have raised the throne of their abominable impiety,
.....with the iniquitous design that when the Pastor has been struck, the sheep
.....may be scattered.

“Arise then, O invincible Prince,
bring help against the attacks of the lost spirits to the people of God,
.....and give them the victory.
They venerate thee as their protector and patron;
.....in thee holy Church glories as her defense against the
.....malicious power of hell;
to thee has God entrusted the souls of men to be established in heavenly beatitude.
Oh, pray to the God of peace that He may put Satan under our feet,
.....so far conquered that he may no
.....longer be able to hold men in captivity and harm the Church.
Offer our prayers in the sight of the Most High,
.....so that they may quickly find mercy in the sight of the Lord;
and vanquishing the dragon, the ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan,
.....do thou again make him captive in the abyss,
.....that he may no longer seduce the nations.

Hi! I haven’t posted on the forum for a long time but I thought that I would mention that this year I have decided to do RCIA. I hope to learn as much as I can this year and I am excited to get to know my new parish family a little bit better. I want to thank everyone in this forum who has prayed for me and I want to thank God for keeping me so that I can finally make this decision. I have made the first step but the journey has only begun but I am looking forward to rest of it.

Welcome home!

Litany of Humility
:signofcross:
O Jesus! meek and humble of heart, Hear me.
From the desire of being esteemed,
Deliver me, Jesus. [Repeat after each below]
From the desire of being loved…
From the desire of being extolled …
From the desire of being honored …
From the desire of being praised …
From the desire of being preferred to others…
From the desire of being consulted …
From the desire of being approved …
From the fear of being humiliated …
From the fear of being despised…
From the fear of suffering rebukes …
From the fear of being calumniated …
From the fear of being forgotten …
From the fear of being ridiculed …
From the fear of being wronged …
From the fear of being suspected …

That others may be loved more than I,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it. [Repeat after each below]
That others may be esteemed more than I …
That, in the opinion of the world,
… others may increase and I may decrease …
That others may be chosen and I set aside …
That others may be praised and I unnoticed …
That others may be preferred to me in everything…
That others may become holier than I, provided that I may
…become as holy as I should…

Prayer to the Holy Spirit
by Saint Antiochus
O Holy Spirit,
most merciful Comforter:
You proceed from the Father
in a manner beyond our understanding.
Come, I beseech You,
and take up your abode in my heart.
Purify and cleanse me from all sin,
and sanctify my soul.
Cleanse it from every impurity,
water its dryness,
melt its coldness,
and save it from its sinful ways.
Make me truly humble and resigned,
that I may be pleasing to You,
and that You might abide with me forever.
Most Blessed Light,
most Amiable Light,
enlighten me.
O Rapturous Joy of Paradise,
Fount of Purest Delight,
My God, give yourself to me
and kindle in my innermost soul the fire of Your love.
My Lord, instruct, direct,
and defend me in all things.
Give me strength against all immoderate fears
and against despondency.
Bestow upon me a true faith,
a firm hope,
and a sincere and a perfect love.
Grant that I always do Your Most Gracious Will.
Amen.

Prayer for All Virtues
O Almighty and all-knowing God,
without beginning or end,
who art the giver, preserver, and rewarder of all virtue:

Grant me to stand firm on the solid foundation of faith,
be protected by the invincible shield of hope,
and be adorned by the nuptial garment of charity;

Grant me by justice to obey thee,
by prudence to resist the crafts of the Devil,
by temperance to hold to moderation,
by fortitude to bear adversity with patience;

Grant that the goods that I have I may share liberally
with those who have not,
and the good that I do not have I may seek with humility
from those who have;

Grant that I may truly recognize the guilt of the evil I have done,
and bear with equanimity the punishments I have deserved;
that I may never lust after the goods of my neighbour,
but always give thanks to thee for all thy good gifts…

Plant in me, O Lord, all thy virtues,
that in divine matters I might be devout,
in human affairs wise,
and in the proper needs of the flesh onerous to no one…

And grant that I may never rush to do things hastily,
nor balk to do things demanding,
so that I neither yearn for things too soon,
nor desert things before they are finished.
Amen.

Praying. . . . Prayer of apology and thanksgiving . . . because of forgetfulness to say “thank You” to Our Lord for all the blessings He pours on us and we do not even realize it. In addition, the thread could be closed if only a couple of people post on it and I want to get the “thank You” in. 😃

ACT OF HOPE AND CONFIDENCE IN GOD
St. Claude de la Colombiere
:signofcross:
My God,
I believe most firmly that You watch over all who hope in You,
and that we can want for nothing when we rely upon You in all things.
Therefore I am resolved for the future…to cast all my cares upon You.
People may deprive me of worldly goods and status.
Sickness may take from me my strength and the means of serving You.
I may even jeopardize our relationship by sin, but my trust shall never leave me.
I will preserve it to the last moment of my life, and the powers of hell shall seek
…… in vain to grab it from me.
Let others seek happiness in their wealth and in their talents.
Let them trust in the purity of their lives,
the severity of their mortifications,
in the number of their good works,
the enthusiasm of their prayers,
as for me, my Rock and my Refuge, my confidence in you fills me with hope.
For You, my Divine Protector, alone have settled me in hope.
“This confidence can never be vain. No one, who has hoped in God, has
…… ever been confounded.”
I am assured, therefore, of my eternal happiness,
…… for I firmly hope in it and all my hope is in You.
“In You, O loving God, have I hoped: let me never be confounded.”
I know too well that I am weak and changeable. I know the power of
…… temptation against the strongest virtue.
I have seen stars fall and foundations of my world crack;
…… these things do not alarm me.
While I hope in You, I am sheltered from all misfortune,
…… and I am sure that my trust shall endure,
…… for I rely upon You to sustain this unfailing hope.
Finally, I know that my confidence cannot exceed Your generosity, and that I
…… shall never receive less than I have hoped for from You.
Therefore I hope that You will sustain me against my evil inclinations,
…… that You will protect me against the deceitful attacks of the evil one,
…… and that You will cause my weakness to triumph over every hostile force.
I hope that You will never cease to love me and that I shall love You unceasingly.
“In You, O loving God, have I hoped: let me never be confounded.”

St Claude de la Colombiere, pray for us!

Apology and Thanksgiving Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Creator of all and source of all goodness and love,
please look kindly upon us,
as we ask for forgiveness for not giving You thanks.
Please receive our heartfelt apology for the lack of gratitude.
Remind us at all times that You are always worthy of our thanks.

Thank You, Heavenly Father,
for all the graces and blessings
You have bestowed upon us:
our faith and religious heritage;
the Priests who bring us the Sacraments;
our life, food and shelter;
our health, the love we have for one another;
our family and friends.
Thank You for those things You so generously give us
…and of which we are not even aware.
Dear Father, in Your infinite generosity, please grant us the grace of having
…less “give me” and more gratitude throughout the coming
…years so that we may be aware that anything from You is good
…for You turn the “bad” into blessings for us.
Please Lord, grant us the grace of not forgetting that we can thank You
…over and over again for the same gift – and if we
…forget, may our Guardian Angel remind us.
Thank You, Lord.
I Love You, Lord.
Amen… …by Luz María
