My biggest fear was that due to my lack of correct responses, and also saying to the priest while he was administering the chrism “that’s not my name”, it was invalidated because of improper form or something.
He is the expert. If he didn’t insist on redoing it at the time, then that means you’re fine. He would certainly have let you know straight away if it was invalid. 🙂

I am sorry that it wasn’t explained to you that your Saint name is the name you get Confirmed with. 🙂

So you’re saying it’s still valid even when you interrupt the priest when he is saying be sealed with the holy spirit? And don’t reply Amen after it? And also don’t reply saying and with your spirit after the priest says peace be with you? Yes, I was thrown that much for a loop :s

There was a huge group of us so father just moved to the next person.
Yes, yes, yes, and yes. The sacrament was validly conferred. Don’t try to second guess God.

Hi N00b,

I am so sorry that you are feeling so anxious about this situation. Please try and take heart over it.

As others have said, you have been Confirmed. That’s a great event that took place. I am so very happy for you! 🙂

It’s understandable that we get nervous, at times. It happens to me, too. I have said and done things at the wrong time. We all make mistakes.

Your intention is what mattered. Rest easy, friend, and welcome home!

Yep - it’s fine. The priest would have stopped and corrected things if there was a problem. (And by the way, the things you pointed out are very minor) I’m thinking perhaps some day you will look back and realize how beautifully messy it was and it will instruct your faith life in some way. That’s the beauty of God. Maybe this is a challenge to overcome your scrupulosity. You see, God is ALWAYS working things to the good - think of this as a teaching moment and let yourself feel His love and mercy and trust in His providence. He would not let you go for something so small as forgetting to say, ‘Amen’.
