Hey! All of you in RCIA, are you excited for the Easter Vigil?! What are you thinking about right now? Can you believe the BIG DAY is almost HERE?! I’ve been waiting almost two years for it to come and it’s nearly here! I know I’m excited! What are your thoughts on this candidates and cathecumens?

It seems like I just started my RCIA classes. It felt like Easter would never get here! I’m so EXCITED!! I don’t think I have ever been this excited about anything.

crunch time
today is a perfect day to begin praying the novena to the Holy Spirit which I will post if I can find it before someone else does

this website has several novenas to the Holy Spirit, I am on my way to work so I don’t have time to search for the one I am looking for but any of them should be good

catholicdoors.com/prayers/novena.htm.

Oh believe me…

The devil has really turned up the heat on me…

All three cars messing up, no job yet. Family strife…

:banghead:

I’ll be glad when it is over, of course then the real war begins… :signofcross:

RCIA retreat Saturday, pray for us.
Christ, our Light. Thanks be to God.

Prayers and a warm welcome go out to all who will be entering the faith on Easter! God bless you in these last few days. 🙂

I’m with you on this one. I’ve found that the heat has been turned up in my life as well. I’ve got people thinking I’m crazy and trying to convert me. I’ve got problems more so than usual with school and work. I’ve just been feeling like I’ve not given my all to my journey home lately. Of course they say that the devil works the hardest during this time of year…

So am I. My family is being far from supportive about be me converting. I think the devil is in overdrive!! Everything that could possibley go wrong is. We’ll all just have to stick together these last couple days. WE CAN MAKE IT! Won’t that be a slap in the devils face…Everything that he is trying to mess up in our lives is about to all blow up in his face! I’M GOING TO THE EASTER VIGIL AND GETTING CONFIRMED AND THERE IS NOTHING THE DEVIL CAN DO ABOUT IT!

We just all need to :gopray: :signofcross: :gopray2: for each other!

A quiet joy. Plus an excuse to wear my kilt at The Easter Vigil. Plus getting into a state of Grace so that my prayers for the Poor Souls of Purgatory will be more effective

I am so excited!!!😃 It has been an almost two years journey for me as well! I don’t think I have been as excited since I was planning my wedding! I have been asked to present the Oil of Catechumens at the Holy Thursday Mass! I am honored and extra excited, as my family will be coming in from NY to celebrate Holy Week with us! At times, it seemed like a long road… all of a sudden, it’s here! I feel so blessed to be coming Home, and I bring my three daughters with me- our youngest was baptized Catholic in Feb. ( my sponsor and her husband the Godparents!), my oldest daughter joining me in full reception at the Easter Vigil, and our middle daughter to receive first Holy Communion at the end of April! We have been greatly blessed!

The devil’s turned the heat up on me, as well. Double time! Not only have my worst weaknesses been creeping up on me so much more easily, but it seems that I can’t escape temptation or venial sins! So…I’m going to have to make one last confession before Holy Week!

Not only that, but I’ve been in the process of talking to a Muslim about Truth, and I’m doing my best to evangelize her while she’s trying to convert me, and yesterday afternoon as I laid down for a nap I heard the devil whisper in my ear, “There is **no **truth. Jesus and Mary are lies. You’ll regret it if you don’t please yourself!”

I’m praying to Mother Mary to wrap me in her mantle and to keep me safe! :gopray:

As for temptations and the devil turnings up the heat,
hide in Jesus wounds and Mary’s mantle.
Satan really can’t do anything to you against God’s Will, so you know whatever comes can be triumphed. But if there is ever an attitude of “O Lord just give me the grace and then I can overcome it” i would say that is not good.
Immediately when temptation comes, admit to Christ “I am weak and I can’t fight this, but you can”
And literally give it to Him. Then don’t take it back. Don’t entertain temptations and weaknesses just say “God, you take this.”
I remember a Saint (I think maybe Padre Pio) said that if we understood the glory of overcoming a temptation to sin we would probably be inclined to actually ask God to allow more!
But I wouldn’t suggest that 🙂

And God Bless all you about to be in full communion.
I always get excited for you guys 🙂

Peace!
Mordocai

this is very true and a very common, almost requisite experience. Frustration with RCIA process and the people involved, roadblocks and opposition from family, work conflicts and deadlines threaten to interfere with Holy Week observances, but most of all attacks on your blossoming faith and on your conversion itself. click on over to the spirituality forum and look for threads on spiritual warfare prayers, or just ramp up and be faithful to your daily prayer and especially the penitential practices of Lent. You know, the whole idea of Lent arose for you guys as the penance was intended to defend just against such temptations and to promote and protect your ongoing conversion. Fast and pray, and do something to help somebody else.

Please, please participate in all the Holy Week liturgies, and also Chrism mass if it is possible. They are also a vital integral part of your prepration. Dump all non-essential activities for the duration–travel, social life, entertainment, overtime at work if possible. Try to stay away from really negative people, this is not the time for you to try to evangelize others, get into apologetics arguments, or fight with your family. Your focus should be inward, on your own spiritual condition.

I’m with you there. My entire family is converting and I can’t wait until it’s over. Hassles in every direction. It’s just like life I guess. I look forward to the joy of being received into the Catholic Church. But I can’t say I will look back on this time as one that is particularly enjoyable.

Thank you for your encouragement. I have asked for, and received, 3 days vacation from the Post Office. From 4 April to 8 April, the focus will be on RCIA and all the trimmings.

It’s reassuring to know I’m not the only one suffering doubts as Easter approaches. I’ve always been a skeptic and it’s been a hard road for me ever since I became a Christian six years ago, but it seems like in the past couple of weeks I’ve had much stronger and more insistent doubts about my faith and my conversion. I’m excited about Easter, but there’s this ever-present voice in the back of my head saying “But what if none of it’s true”? I’ll be soooo happy once I’m officially Catholic! I can hardly believe that Easter’s almost here!! 😃 Woo-hoo!

So so true. Have experienced so much of this, and I fail to make the connection as often as I should… Thank you for this!

This, as with all you have written… wonderful idea!
Fast and pray, and do something to help somebody else.
Try to stay away from really negative people,
Very important in my opinion!

All beautiful suggestions, puzzleannie… am doing most of this… but reminders of the importance of it all are so helpful…

Thank you for your suggestions and reminders… we need not let anyone or anything get in the way of our faith and continuing call to conversion… 🙂

I am baptized into the faith as an infant, received my holy communion as a young child, but will be receiving my confirmation at the Easter Vigil… it still amazes me though how these trials are still in my path despite the fact I am not undergoing full initiation. I have been attending RCIA with My daughter for almost two years, who will receive all the sacraments during the Easter Vigil… and she has experienced a lot of the same difficulties lately and was happy when I told her at the beginning of Lent that many of these trials are not only common to Catholics during Lent, but are also more prevalent to those nearing their sacraments at the Easter Vigil… She knows that if she stays strong in her faith & conviction it will all get a little easier once it is over. She needs to stay vigilant afterwards, as do we all, but this time is especially trying for many of us…

So very exciting how close we all are… One more week! Let’s all be in each others prayers as we pray for ourselves…

Bless you all,
Margaret 🙂

RCIA retreat today, I am exhausted but it was wonderful.

although it was not planned when I prepared the materials and scripture reflections, and my short teaching on the elements of Holy Week and the sacraments themselves, the theme that ran throughout the day was suffering, specifically becoming united with Christ precisely through uniting our suffering in His, and waiting, uniting our waiting with Mary’s as she accompanied him throughout his life, mission, passion until the Ascension.

I just thought that perhaps those of you for whom the RCIA process has entailed what at times seems gratuitious and unwarranted waiting (probably felt like suffering at times) might derive benefit from reflecting on that aspect.
